Chapter -2 Project Profile 2.1 The Project

M/s. Arora & Co. BKO Village:- Khara Tehsil Distt. Faridkot () The Unit is engaged in the products of bricks from bricks earth. The average daily production capacity of the brick kin is 30000 bricks/day. The industry has got consents to operate from the Punjab Pollution Board for the operation of the brick kiln. The industry is also registered with the industries department for the mining of brick earth. 2.1 Detail of the mining site (s) M/s. Arora & Co. BKO Village:- Khara Tehsil Kotkapura Distt. Faridkot (Punjab) have taken land on lease basis for the mining of brick earth for the production of raw bricks. The Unit is engaged in the products of bricks from bricks earth. Faridkot (Punjab) Tehsil Kotkapura District Faridkot State Punjab Status of Lessee Private Ownership Lessee Period 01-08-2015-To 31-07-2018 Mining Proposal relating New Mining of brick earth to Depth of mining activity 3ft to be carried out 2.2 Detail of the General Topography lies between 30 40 and 74 75 North latitude 340 67 and 74 73 East longitude in the southeast part the state. It is surrounded by Shri Muktsar Sahib to the North, Ferozepur & district to the west. According to the 2011 census Faridkot District has a population of 617508 this gives it a ranking of 519th in (out of total of 640) This district has a population density of 424 inhabitants per kilometer (1100/sq mi) Most of the area is plain in from in from of agricultural land. Distance of mining site form The Mining site is more than 15 km away from any National National Highway / State Highway, 15 Railway Lines. Highway Railway Lines 2.3 Requirements of brick earth As state above the brick kiln owner would produce 30000 bricks per day and the production process is done for 200 days in a year. Therefore annual brick production would be around 6000000 bricks. The size of bricks produced in India is 228 x 107 x 69 mm. Average volume of brick produced of 60,00,000 bricks is 10099m3 Considering the brick earth requirements as 0.91 times the actual requirements on the dry basis, the annual bricks earth requirements would be around 9190m3. The owner of bricks kiln has proposed to mining area is sufficient for 5 Year of brick earth production for the brick kiln unde3r consideration. However, the BKO has taken the lease for 3 Year 2.4 Process Description The Mining activity would involve surface mining .The process steps involved in the surface mining of brick earth are marking of land, preparation of site for mining activity, excavation of brick earth and loading of brick earth. The Project does not involve any processes as drilling blasting and beneficiation etc. 2.4 Utilities General amenities: The sites is located in Village:- Khara Tehsil Kotkapura Distt. Faridkot (Punjab) and the distance of the mining site from the village population is around 500m. There are no places of worship, ancient monuments. Wildlife sanctuary etc. within 300m of the site. Connectivity: The connectivity of the mining site is thorough village road. the project entrance is not attached with the National Highway/State Highway/Major District road Power Requirements: The Mining activity would be carried out in one shift(i.e. general shift) only, so no lighting arrangement will be required. Water Requirement: Water requirement during the mining activity would be from the spraying of water on the road and trucks carrying the brick earth. Further water would be required for meeting the domestic requirement overall, the water requirements would be less than 0.2KL/day for all the purpose.
