The Spanish F1 track was, together with Spa, the only race track used outside of France during the 2017 season. www.porscheroadandrace.com From the qualifying sessions, Florian Latorre (Martinet by Alméras) impressed everyone once again with the pole positions for both races, making it seven times in a row this season. Porsche Carrera Cup France, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, 30 September/1 October 2017: Florian Latorre was on pole for both races Latorre set 1:51.645 in the first qualifying session and 1:51.195 in the second. He was followed by Julien Andlauer (Martinet by Alméras) (1:51.657) second in the first qualifying and Valentin Hasse-Clot (Sébastien Loeb Racing) (1:51.380 – second for the second race). The Team of Philippe Alméras was in good form for the race at the track that is located the shortest distance of the team base (Montpellier, south of France). www.porscheroadandrace.com Porsche Carrera Cup France, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, 30 September/1 October 2017: Christophe Lapierre and Joffrey de Narda before the race on Saturday Race 1 At the start of the first race (and the eighth of the season), pole sitter Latorre lost his advantage because of too much wheel spin but Julien Andlauer (2nd on the grid) made a good start and set himself up in the lead followed by Joffrey de Narda (with both cutting the first chicane due to a very late braking). But there was big drama behind, as rookie Antoine Jung (Team Vendée Autosport) crashed heavily against the pit wall. The safety car had to be deployed while the track was cleaned and the heavily damaged car was removed. www.porscheroadandrace.com Lined up before the start of the Porsche Carrera Cup France – race 1 – on Saturday The drivers were a little over-ambitious at the start of the Porsche Carrera Cup France – race 1 – on Saturday The restart was given with 20 minutes remaining and the standings at that point were: 1. Andlauer, 2. De Narda, 3. Latorre 4. Güven. The two drivers up front established a good distance between themselves and the following group (Andlauer led De Narda by 11 sec). The closing laps of the race saw a close battle for third place between Güven, Latorre and Valentin Hasse-Clot, with the three overtaking each other at almost every corner, but finishing in the same order in the end. With problems in qualifying due to not respecting the track limits (and therefore the best laps deleted by race stewards), Julien Andlauer (points leader) had to start 13th and Ayhancan Güven (Attempto Racing) 30th. With four minutes remaining, Andlauer spun and went off the track at the exit of the very long third corner, and fortunately Christophe Lapierre managed to avoid him as Andlauer was right in the middle of the track. www.porscheroadandrace.com Valentin Hasse-Clot speeds down the start/finish straight during the closing stages of Porsche Carrera Cup France – race 2 – on Sunday With a very slippery track and the cars still on slick tyres (there is no ABS nor traction control on these cars), Valentin Hasse-Clot managed his lead ahead of Vincent Beltoise. The cars finished in that order with Turkish driver Ayhancan Güven in third (after starting 30th). Güven passed Lindland for the third place on the last lap of the race at the end of the start/finish line. www.porscheroadandrace.com Porsche Carrera Cup France, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, 30 September/1 October 2017: Valentin Hasse-Clot takes the honours in race 2 on Sunday, flanked by Vincent Beltoise (left) in 2nd place, and Ayhancan Güven (right) in 3rd place Joffrey de Narda finished fourth and points leader Julien Andlauer ended in ninth place. With two races remaining (14-15 October at Paul Ricard, Le Castellet) the title fight is still very close. Roar Lindland won the B class in front of Christophe Lapierre and ex-Le Mans 24h racer Yannick Mallegol. Dennis Olsen Page 1 of 5 Olsen won the title in the 2017 Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. The 21-year-old from the Konrad Motorsport team demonstrated a particularly impressive level of consistency. As well as six race wins, the young driver from Våler in Norway also finished on the podium in 12 of the season’s 14 races. Olsen also demonstrated his talent in the international Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, in which he drove for the Walter Lechner Racing Team. The youngster was victorious at the iconic British circuit in Silverstone, as well as the double-header at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium). He ended the season second in the championship and was crowned top rookie.

Race – Round 1 “That was a perfect weekend for me. I managed to assert myself in the critical phases of the race – which were in the first laps and at the restart after the safety car phase,” said the Porsche Junior (F/BWT Lechner Racing). At Sunday’s race, Ayhancan Güven (TR/martinet by ALMERAS) and Michael Ammermüller (D/BWT Lechner Racing) scored the other podium steps with their 485 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racers. Andlauer made the most of the restart The 28-strong field from 17 nations treated spectators to an action-packed race on the circuit north of Barcelona. In sunny weather and a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius, Andlauer immediately took the inside line after the start in order to defend himself against Güven. The racing driver from Turkey made repeated attempts to overtake the Frenchman, but was thwarted in lap five when the safety car was deployed to enable a vehicle to be salvaged from the track. Andlauer made the most of the restart and used the remaining distance to pull clear of Güven. Evans competes for Lechner Racing (Austria), with Güven driving for the French squad Martinet by Alméras. For both young drivers, this marks their second season in the international one-make cup, which is contested as support to European Formula 1 events. The youngsters receive funding to the value of 225,000 Euros and mentoring from the former Porsche works driver Sascha Maassen as well as media seminars, mental coaching and sports medicine support. “Anyone who performs well in the top-class field of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup is well prepared for a career as a professional race driver. Many top international tal- ents took the decisive career step in the Supercup and then went on to become works drivers. Despite his young age, Porsche Junior Julien Andlauer knows exactly how to win titles: champion of the Porsche Carrera Cup France in 2017 and, since last year, the youngest class winner at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. This week- end, the 20-year-old Frenchman has added yet another trophy to his impressive col- lection: At Sunday’s race on the Sachsenring, Andlauer claimed the crown of the 2019 Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. Right from the outset, Andauer’s goal was clear. After two successful years in the French Carrera Cup, he set his sights on securing the title in the German one-make cup. Although the Carrera Cup season got off to a mediocre start, with a tenth and fifth place at Hockenheim, the clever youngster gradually worked his way up to the top of the field. After claiming second place at the Most racetrack in the Czech Re- public, his breakthrough came with his first win at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. The talented Frenchman went on to score another four wins to secure the title at the final race weekend at the Sachsenring. In the fight for the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland title, Andlauer first had to out- shine two rivals: his seasoned teammate Michael Ammermüller and the tenacious young Dutchman Larry ten Voorde. Andlauer tackled his title mission with incredible energy. No matter whether the driver from Lyon was signing autographs or giving interviews in the Carrera Cup paddock, he almost always wore a friendly smile.
