Let this non-judgmental, one-day introductory class be the stepping stone to future art classes. All supplies provided. 8000a: Sat, May 20 | 9:30am – 4:00pm | Drawing Studio | Santikos Building 8000b: Tues, May 30 | 9:30am – 4:00pm | Briscoe Studio | Negley Building Tuition: $75 (Members: $60) | 1 session

Beginning 8001 | Basic Drawing Sarah Fox, Mira Hnatyshyn, & Kate Terrell Drawing is a learned skill, based on hand-eye coordination. Anyone can learn to draw, and it is a basic tool needed for all classes offered at The Southwest School of Art. Through free-hand drawing, students will render three-dimensional objects—using drawing principles of line, shape, value, texture, perspective, and composition—in an enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere. Bring an 18 by 24-inch drawing pad, a selection of graphite pencils, and an eraser; additional materials will be discussed at the first class. 8001a: Fox | Tues, May 30 – Aug 8 (No class on Jul 4) | 6:30 – 9:15pm | Drawing Studio Santikos Building 8001b: Hnatyshyn | Wed, June 7 – Aug 9 | 9:00am – 11:45am | Drawing Studio | Santikos Building 8001c: Terrell | Sat, Jun 3 – Aug 5 | 9:00am – 11:45am | Briscoe Studio | Negley Building Tuition: $265 (Members: $250) | 10 sessions 12|Summer 2017 drawing.painting Beginning/Intermediate 8002 | Drawing Studio Gregory Alan Johnson This multi-level class is for beginners with some drawing background or for experienced student-artists who would like to refresh their drawing skills. Students will move beyond using drawing merely to render objects accurately, and will come to view drawing as a challenging vehicle for expression of both form and narrative. Bring a sketchbook or drawing pad (size 11 by 14 or 18 by 24-inches), and a selection of pencils and an eraser; additional materials will be discussed at the first class. Note: Intermediate-level students may also register for 8001c. Prerequisite: Basic Drawing or equivalent experience.
