Los Chicos Deliver the 'Rockpile' to Italy
Los Chicos live Oct 28, 2016 10:11 BST Los Chicos Deliver The 'Rockpile' to Italy Madrid garage party rock ‘n rollers Los Chicos have been together for 15 years and show no sign of slowing down on their latest album, Rockpile of Shit, a joint release on Dirty Water RecordsandFolc Records. The band serves up a supercharged concoction of garage rock mixed with a splash of soul, rhythm & blues, and country. They’ve been described as “the Fleshtones on sangria,” but you can also hear influences like the Pogues and Chuck Berry. They’ve played with bands like the Sonics, Mudhoney, Southern Culture on the Skids, the Meanies, Roy Loney, and soon they will embark on a tour of France and Italy. Watch video on YouTube here The group is known for their high octane, beer soaked, anything could happen style of live performances, especially from frontman Rafa Suñén. In 2012 they broke the stage at Boogie Festival after inviting more than 60 members of the audience up to dance with them. Now that's a serious 'Rockpile! Be sure not to miss them. 31/10 MON - Thunderbird Lounge, Saint Etienne (FR) 01/11 TUE - Sidro, Savignano sul Rubicone (FC) 02/11 WED - Edonè, Bergamo 03/11 THU - Al Porteghet, Trento 04/11 FRI - Swamp, Massa 05/11 SAT - Taun, Fidenza Order Los Chico's The Dirty Water Club started in October 1996 in the Tufnell Park neighbourhood of north London, at a venue called The Boston. In the Studio: the Role of Recording Techniques in Rock Music (2006)
21 In the Studio: The Role of Recording Techniques in Rock Music (2006) John Covach I want this record to be perfect. Meticulously perfect. Steely Dan-perfect. -Dave Grohl, commencing work on the Foo Fighters 2002 record One by One When we speak of popular music, we should speak not of songs but rather; of recordings, which are created in the studio by musicians, engineers and producers who aim not only to capture good performances, but more, to create aesthetic objects. (Zak 200 I, xvi-xvii) In this "interlude" Jon Covach, Professor of Music at the Eastman School of Music, provides a clear introduction to the basic elements of recorded sound: ambience, which includes reverb and echo; equalization; and stereo placement He also describes a particularly useful means of visualizing and analyzing recordings. The student might begin by becoming sensitive to the three dimensions of height (frequency range), width (stereo placement) and depth (ambience), and from there go on to con sider other special effects. One way to analyze the music, then, is to work backward from the final product, to listen carefully and imagine how it was created by the engineer and producer. To illustrate this process, Covach provides analyses .of two songs created by famous producers in different eras: Steely Dan's "Josie" and Phil Spector's "Da Doo Ron Ron:' Records, tapes, and CDs are central to the history of rock music, and since the mid 1990s, digital downloading and file sharing have also become significant factors in how music gets from the artists to listeners. Live performance is also important, and some groups-such as the Grateful Dead, the Allman Brothers Band, and more recently Phish and Widespread Panic-have been more oriented toward performances that change from night to night than with authoritative versions of tunes that are produced in a recording studio. -

Is Rock Music in Decline? a Business Perspective
Jose Dailos Cabrera Laasanen Is Rock Music in Decline? A Business Perspective Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences Bachelor of Business Administration International Business and Logistics 1405484 22nd March 2018 Abstract Author(s) Jose Dailos Cabrera Laasanen Title Is Rock Music in Decline? A Business Perspective Number of Pages 45 Date 22.03.2018 Degree Bachelor of Business Administration Degree Programme International Business and Logistics Instructor(s) Michael Keaney, Senior Lecturer Rock music has great importance in the recent history of human kind, and it is interesting to understand the reasons of its de- cline, if it actually exists. Its legacy will never disappear, and it will always be a great influence for new artists but is important to find out the reasons why it has become what it is in now, and what is the expected future for the genre. This project is going to be focused on the analysis of some im- portant business aspects related with rock music and its de- cline, if exists. The collapse of Gibson guitars will be analyzed, because if rock music is in decline, then the collapse of Gibson is a good evidence of this. Also, the performance of independ- ent and major record labels through history will be analyzed to understand better the health state of the genre. The same with music festivals that today seem to be increasing their popularity at the expense of smaller types of live-music events. Cutthroat Brothers Press Release Final
MURDEROUS GARAGE PUNK DEBUT FROM THE CUTTHROAT BROTHERS FEATURING ZEKE CO-FOUNDER DONNY PAYCHECK ON DRUMS AND JASON CUTTHROAT ON VOCALS AND GUITAR ALBUM DROPS OCTOBER 5, 2018 ON DIGITAL WARFARE RECORDS July 24, 2018 (Tacoma, Washington) – Digital Warfare Records announces the debut album by newly formed garage punk duo The Cutthroat Brothers. The self-titled record will be available as CD and digital download on Friday, October 5th, 2018. That evening the band will celebrate their album release in Seattle at El Corazon with The Real McKenzies, Kids On Fire, plus guests. This is 21+ show and tickets are on sale now. This duo of real-life barbers, the Sweeney Todd of Punk -- Jason Cutthroat (vocals, guitar) and Donny Paycheck (drums) — formed the band in February of this year and by March they had already recorded their album with long time Paycheck/Zeke collaborator, and producer legend Jack Endino (Nirvana, Mudhoney, The Sonics, Soundgarden). Donny Paycheck enthuses "Working with Jack on the record was smooth and easy. He really knows how to bring sounds to life." Since the Brothers share the same profession (a grizzly one in days of yore) and a passion for bands like The Gun Club, The Cramps, Eagles of Death Metal, The Hives, it was effortless for the duo to write songs and come up with ideas for the band—like wearing blood- spattered white smocks for live shows. Paycheck has no less than eleven Zeke albums under his belt, a band with whom he toured the world playing with artists like Iron Maiden, Pearl Jam, Motorhead, Superjoint Ritual, Mudhoney, Supersuckers, and D.O.A. -

Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl, and Kurt Cobain
f Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl, and Kurt Cobain (from top) N irvana By David Fricke The Seattle band led and defined the early-nineties alternative-rock uprising, unleashing a generation s pent-up energy and changing the sound and future of rock. THIS IS WHAT NIRVANA SINGER-GUITARIST KURT Cobain thought of institutional honors in rock & roll: When his band was photographed for the cover of Rolling Stone for the first time, in early 1992, he arrived wearing a white T-shirt on which he’d written, c o r p o r a t e m a g a z i n e s s t i l l s u c k in black marker. The slogan was his twist on one coined by the punk-rock label SST: “Corporate Rock Still Sucks.” The hastily arranged photo session, held by the side of a road during a manic tour of Australia, was later recalled by photogra pher Mark Seliger: “I said to Kurt, T think that’s a great shirt... but let’s shoot a couple with and without it.’ Kurt said, ‘No, I’m not going to take my shirt off.’” Rolling Stone ran his Fuck You un-retouched. ^ Cobain was also mocking his own success. At that moment, Nirvana - Cobain, bassist Krist Novoselic, and drummer Dave Grohl - was rock’s biggest new rock band, propelled out of a long-simmering postpunk scene in Seattle by its incendiary second album, N everm ind, and an improbable Top Ten single, “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” Right after New Year’s Day 1992, Nevermind - Nirvana’s first major-label release and a perfect monster of feral-punk challenge and classic-rock magne tism, issued to underground ecstacy just months before - had shoved Michael Jackson’s D angerous out of the Number One spot in B illboard. -

Record Dreams Catalog
RECORD DREAMS 50 Hallucinations and Visions of Rare and Strange Vinyl Vinyl, to: vb. A neologism that describes the process of immersing yourself in an antique playback format, often to the point of obsession - i.e. I’m going to vinyl at Utrecht, I may be gone a long time. Or: I vinyled so hard that my bank balance has gone up the wazoo. The end result of vinyling is a record collection, which is defned as a bad idea (hoarding, duplicating, upgrading) often turned into a good idea (a saleable archive). If you’re reading this, you’ve gone down the rabbit hole like the rest of us. What is record collecting? Is it a doomed yet psychologically powerful wish to recapture that frst thrill of adolescent recognition or is it a quite understandable impulse to preserve and enjoy totemic artefacts from the frst - perhaps the only - great age of a truly mass art form, a mass youth culture? Fingering a particularly juicy 45 by the Stooges, Sweet or Sylvester, you could be forgiven for answering: fuck it, let’s boogie! But, you know, you’re here and so are we so, to quote Double Dee and Steinski, what does it all mean? Are you looking for - to take a few possibles - Kate Bush picture discs, early 80s Japanese synth on the Vanity label, European Led Zeppelin 45’s (because of course they did not deign to release singles in the UK), or vastly overpriced and not so good druggy LPs from the psychedelic fatso’s stall (Rainbow Ffolly, we salute you)? Or are you just drifting, browsing, going where the mood and the vinyl takes you? That’s where Utrecht scores.
