Domestic & Foreign Newspapers Howard-Tilton Memorial Library Microforms & Newspapers Department Updated: Jan 2019 Introduction The newspaper holdings of the Howard-Tilton Memorial Library Microforms/Newspapers department are quite diverse, with a strong emphasis on current newspapers published outside the United States. Yet, there are also many newspapers held by the department that are published in the United States and have important historical value. A heavily used and important portion of the collection contains many newspapers from Louisiana and the Gulf region. This publication will present exact holdings of all newspapers housed in the Microforms/Newspapers department of the Howard-Tilton Memorial Library. It must be noted, however, that there are newspapers held in other departments of the Howard-Tilton Library not included in this publication. Many newspapers have been digitized and may be found online. The newspapers listed here are, nevertheless, reflective of most newspapers held by this library. This publication contains two sections. The first section contains domestic newspapers arranged alphabetically by state, city, and name of newspaper. The second contains foreign newspapers. Entries are arranged alphabetically by country, city, and name of newspaper. Most papers listed are located within the Newspapers section (cabinets 12-40), but some are located in the MIC section (cabinets 68-81) or within the Manuscripts section (cabinets 44-63) as noted. It is hoped that this comprehensive listing of newspapers will assist library users in their search for the important information that these documents provide. Scanning and printing accommodations are available.
