Last November, top badminton stars joined HSBC executives at ‘City Badminton’ in Hong Kong for an initiative by HSBC Life. This saw community groups, including the Hong Kong Sports Association for Persons with Intellectual Disability, students from Pui Kiu College, local junior talents, HSBC staff and shoppers at host venue Olympian City two participate in badminton activities such as coaching clinics and play-to- win contests. They were also shown the physical and mental benefits of exercise. More than 3,000 people took part in this venture. Hasilnya, 12 wakil Indonesia melaju ke babak delapan besar atau perempat final turnamen BWF World Tour Super 300 tersebut. Wakil Merah Putih yang pertama mengamankan tiket perempat final adalah Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo. Pebulu tangkis tunggal putra itu mengalahkan wakil Belanda, Joran Kweekel, melalui drama rubber game 10-22, 21-11, 21-13. Keberhasilan Chico lalu diikuti dua pemain tunggal lainnya yaitu Shesar Hiren Rhustavito dan Putri Kusuma Wardani. Shesar Hiren Rhustavito tak mendapat hadangan berarti kala berhadapan dengan Max Weisskirchen (Jerman). Pebulu tangkis tunggal putra yang diunggulkan di tempat pertama itu menang dua gim langsung 21-15, 21-17. Adapun Putri Kusuma Wardani menyingkirkan Ruselli Hartawan dalam Derbi Merah Putih di nomor tunggal putri dengan skor 21-14, 16-21, 21-15. Sementara itu, keempat wakil ganda putra Indonesia kompak mengamankan tiket perempat final. Mereka adalah Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan, Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin, dan Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana.
