More than ever, the dinner table is a place to share. In SITTNING we decided to explore the no- tion of sharing even further - the old fashioned way. Sigga talks about the idea behind “mine” and “ours”:

“The collection supports a more casual dinner par- ty, having a greater centrepiece with food that everyone will pick their treats from to their own plates. This also led to having serving cutlery for everyone. Spoons in all kinds of sizes and smaller forks allow guests to serve themselves from the shared serving plate.”

Which is also why there is an 8-piece set of mini salt and pepper sprinklers. So that people can salt and pepper their own food without having to ask “Can you please pass me the salt?”

Even though most of us enjoy the physical meeting with friends, more and more people are bringing their smart- phones with them to the dining table. So why not hide them in a pocket at least? Put them away for a while and let go of the constant checking of social media up- dates. That’s what the textile designer Maria Vinka and the product developer team thought of when designing the SITTNING place mat. After all, the idea with the collection is a celebration of being together. To share something more than just a meal.

TWO KINDS OF QUALITY

With this collection you’ll find two kinds of quality - the actual design quality with the choice of material and function. And the quality of life that a long, pleas- ant meal together with friends and family gives us.

The generous use of natural materials contribute to a welcoming atmosphere where everyone can feel fabu- lous and just relax. To make the table a bit eye-catching, SITTNING is also a mix of contrasts and textures. Meet warm acacia wood and cold metal, delicate hand-blown glass and marble, some very tall candle holders and some very short ones. All spread out on a table cloth of calming cotton with different patterns and shades weaved into it. Even the take out pizza is going to look spectacular!
