What do you do when you want to be good to yourselj?

Lee Walling, Old Bridge: I do something I really like doing. I go to a movie or per haps out to a restaurant. You know, I’m on vacation now and I can’t think o f a dam thing. Right now my life is centered around my child. We went to a toddlers’ gym, and tomorrow we plan to go to the zoo. O f course, I enjoy all these things, too. When I’m doing things with my dau^ter, indirect ly I’m being very good to myself

Lois Herbert, East Brunswick: I think I would just relax at home and not have to worry about having to mn here and there. Perhaps I’d look at television or do my fa vorite sewing, which is quilting. To me, quilting is fun because I like it so much.

Francis Harding, East Brunswick: What I usually do — and this may sound kind o f silly — is go to a Rutgers sporting event. It could be football, basketball, or lacrosse — just about any sporting event. Even a Little League game in the neighborhood I really enjoy it. I simply relax and feel good.

Joseph Zavlek, Old Bridge: I love giving o f myself which has proved very fruitful in my life and other people’s lives. Sometimes there are surprises, I used to own a number o f barber shops in New York, although I am not a barber. Occasionally I’d stop in and give every customer a pen or comb. One day I gave a pen to a person who turned out to be an official o f Seagrams. Two weeks later, he called and ordered 18,000 pens with the company’s logo on them. I just love doing this sort o f thing. When I feel good, I do it more often. Sometimes people misunderstand and think I’m doing it for something, but I’m not. The sign over my desk reads “ We need each other.’’ And we do.

Frank Martinelli, Old Bridge: I like to play basketball. I go in the back yard and shoot baskets until I unwind. That happens fairly quickly and I feel great. Then I go back into the house and watch television or go play with my grandchildren. Either way. I’m really relaxed.

Dorothy Holzapfel, Milltown: I eat. I am very serious about that. I f you would see me you would know how serious I am. I am too good to myself; I’m over indulgent.

Joseph Resko, East Brunswick: When I want to be good to myself I read. I’m a terrific reader. I go to the library and walk from shelf to shelf just looking at books. Then I go to the current books to choose one. On a day when I feel really good, I treat myself to a nice lunch and then spend the afternoon reading.

Gladys Blumig, Milltown: When I want to be good to myself I help my sister. To do little things for her makes me feel very good.

Florence Snyder, Sayreville: I do a lot of reading. But when I really want to feel good, 1 get my hair done and spend money. That makes me feel absolutely great.

Peter and Edythe Dloss, East Brunswick: We go out to a good restaurant. It’s very simple. But the truth is we enjoy going out to dinner. For something very special, we go on a vacation. It may sound boring but we enjoy doing things together so we don’t have to look for anything sensational, tc UJ ARTS & CRAFTS Q PREPARE FOR FALL ‘85 occ o UJ oc S.A.T.
