I am sorry for the delay in responding to your email of 22 November, in which you ask for information on agencies with access to the (PNC). Your request has been handled as a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

I am able to disclose some of the information set out in the enclosed Annexes. The list provided is not exhaustive. Other cross government departments and agencies have access to the PNC but we will neither confirm nor deny the names of those departments.

Section 24 of the the Freedom of Information Act absolve us from the requirement to say whether or not we hold information, if in the interests of safeguarding national security and the public interest falls in favour of neither confirming nor denying.

This response should not be taken as conclusive evidence that the information you have requested is or is not held by the Home Office.

If you are dissatisfied with this response you may request an independent internal review of our handling of your request by submitting a complaint within two months to the address below, quoting reference 37952.
