Minister of International Development and La francophonie Marie-Claude Bibeau, MP Compton-Stanstead. QC

 Born and raised in Sherbrooke  Holds a Bachelor in Economics and a graduate diploma in Environmental Management from Université de Sherbrooke.  Worked for the Canadian International Development Agency in Ottawa, Montréal, Morocco and Bénin.  Executive Director of the Sherbrooke Museum of Nature and Science.  Owned tourism business (Camping de Compton) that has won numerous awards for the last 15 years.  She is the wife of Sherbrooke’s mayor, Bernard Sévigny.  First elected federally in 2015  During the 2015 federal election, she strongly supported supply management, saying that: “the supply management system is the best way to ensure the sustainability of agricultural enterprises in Canada “

13 Just sworn in as Minister for La Francophonie of Canada, the member for Compton-Stanstead, Marie- Claude Bibeau, says she still intends to make efforts to help dairy farmers weather the crisis that they are facing.

“I am committed to follow up with the issue and will keep my word,” she said. “Along with the airport and the Mont Mégantic Observatory, it is one of my priorities. We must, however, be given some time”.

Marie-Claude Bibeau says she has already discussed the issue with the two new Ministers that it concerns directly. “We will work in a transparent and responsible manner,” she promises.
