Welcome to Moremi Game Reserve... On arrival into Maun airport a Ker & Downey Botswana representative will welcome you. They will provide you with your Safari Air ticket and accompany you through to security. A Safari Air porter will then escort you to the light aircraft for your flight to the Moremi Game Reserve. You will be met at the Xakanaxa Airstrip by your guide who will transfer you on an open safari vehicle to camp. This delightful camp lies alongside the Maunachira River which flows through Xakanaxa Lagoon within the world-renowned Moremi Game Reserve, Okuti is built amidst the wilderness of one of Botswana’s prime game viewing regions. Okuti draws its influence from water which flows in front of the camp, with its abundant birdlife, fish and sandy riverbanks, it remains an oasis of serenity and peacefulness.

Situated in the heart of the world-renowned Moremi Game Reserve, guests can experience game drives with unhindered views in specially-designed safari vehicles. When out on game drives our window seat guarantee ensures no more than four guests per vehicle and individual use of a camera mount.

The Moremi Game Reserve is rich in wildlife, and its consistent year- round game viewing makes it ideal for repeat and first-time visitors to Botswana. Guests can also explore the Okavango Delta waterways by motorboat, and the areas open lagoons and winding channels make it a birder’s paradise, complete with herons and storks in the breeding season.

Welcome to the Okavango Delta... The Young Explorers safari is a specially designed programme which offers families the opportunity to discover the wonders of the African wilderness – together. One of the special attractions of this safari is its exclusivity. Each family has the use of the Footsteps Camp a private six-bedded camp, a professional guide, personal chef, waiter, housekeeper and dedicated Mokoro guides. It literally allows guests to explore the bush at their leisure, while never losing sight of the fact that being in the wilderness is also about having fun!

The Young Explorers’ emphasis is on learning how to track game – both on foot and in 4×4 safari vehicles. We also teach children how to make small animal traps and how to start a fire from nothing more than two sticks. The children learn how to: recognise different animal spoor; identify a range of birds; try their hand at poling a Mokoro (subject to water levels); drive a game drive vehicle; fish; and shoot an air rifle at tin cans. On completion of the safari children receive a Young Explorers certificate, t-shirt and cap.

The annual rains transform the arid desert landscape into a lush profusion of Kalahari vegetation, offering guests a unique insight into the lesser known desert experience. Situated alongside the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, the focus of activities at Dinaka is exploring the Kalahari experience with wildlife ranging from giraffe to the antelope, small mammals like the honey badger, bat eared fox and porcupine to predators including the Kalahari lion, cheetah, leopard and brown hyena. Activities include morning and afternoon game drives in open safari vehicles, with afternoon game drives often continuing into the evening. Our window seat guarantee ensures no more than four guests per vehicle when out on game drives. Alternatively, you may get more up close and personal with nature on foot with guided bush walks. Birding is particularly spectacular as Dinaka hosts over 200 different bird species including the Kori Bustard and Crimson Breasted Shrike and a high concentration of Pale Chanting Goshawks.

The reserve offers an educational walk with San Bushmen in addition to day and night game drives. Year-round water holes result in spectacular photographic opportunities either from the underground bunker, hide or vehicle. The perfect contrast to a stay in the Okavango Delta, with an added hidden treasure!

Luggage: Baggage is strictly restricted to 20kg (includes hand luggage and camera equipment) in soft-sided luggage which may have one rigid side. No hard suitcases and no bags with frames can be transported as they physically cannot fit into the aircraft pod/luggage compartment. The maximum dimensions of the soft bags which can be accommodated are as follows: 25cm (10 inches) wide x 30cm (12inches) high and 65cm (26 inches) long. Should guests have excess luggage and wish for it to be transferred from Maun to Kasane (or vice versa), we can organise this transfer by courier at the cost of USD50 per bag. Arrangement must be made in advance. Large suitcases are stored free of charge at Ker & Downey Botswana Maun office when your safari starts and ends in Maun.
