Hello, my name is Joey Neff. I’m here to tell you guys about Don- ald Trump and my opinion about him. I know he has a lot of respect and love from people, while others hate him. People hate him because they think “he’ll corrupt our country” or “he’ll run our country on racism and fear”. I disagree, even though he does sound racist and some people may fear him, he has a reason behind why he seems that way. History of our school colors from my parents to me.

Hello, my name is Joey Neff. I am going to give you some facts about my family and when they went to school here at Winchester High. My grandparents did not attend Winches- ter High School, however they did attend Bluffs High School and back then Bluffs and Win- chester did not co-op for sports. In fact the co-op started with sports in the early 2000’s. Our colors used to be purple and gold like our grade school. When my parents were in high school, we were called the Wildcats instead of the Cougars. Now I have no idea why we stick to the names of wild animals but I guess it’s a tradition or they couldn’t find a better name to call us. We were called the Wildcats for quite some time and then it changed to the Cougars after my brother graduated and my sister was still in high school about to graduate. Once we were called the Cougars we changed our colors to black and silver. Our grade school is still called the Wolverines but their colors are black and silver as well. I couldn’t tell you when the next time will be when we change our colors and name again. Hopefully never, but you never know. I like the name cougars and our colors, even though we’ve changed them a lot I’d have to say in my opinion this is my favorite name and my favorite color. This sums up history of the West Central Cougars colors when my family attended here.

Dalton and the Dirt Bikes

By Alexis Davidson

Personally I’ve never been much too keen about motorized bikes. I’ve always more than less been a horse riding person that a motorcycle riding person. In fact I used to be terrified of riding a motorcycle, that is until someone changed my mind. Dalton Schoenfelder is by any means an odd person, but he is also a very passionate dirt bike and motorsports enthusiast. His love for dirt bikes and racing them started at quite a young age, the itch fueled by Dalton’s biggest inspiration to ride, Travis Pastrana a motor- sports and X-Games gold medalist, one of the very best. He’s said it’s always been a dream of his to meet and ride with Travis.

Dalton remembers begging for years as a young kid that he wanted to ride and race dirt bikes. He said one day his dad surprised him with going to look at a nice bike that was built for racing, he was so excited. After a few weeks passed they went back to the dirt bike in hopes of taking it home, it was at this moment Dalton knew he wanted to ride it. His first experience riding a dirt bike was far from graceful, after a quick lesson in how to shift the gears and having a little help balancing the bike by his dad he started up the bike. For a moment everything went pretty well, that is until he hit the gas a little too hard sending the dirt bike into a wild wheelie. Naturally Dalton came crashing down behind the dike and onto his dad. You learn 2 things the first day you start riding dirt bikes, how to ride them, and how to crash. Dalton said even though he wasn’t very good the first time it never de- terred him from getting better. He said it was one of his happiest moments as a kid when he got to take the bike home after his dad bought it for him. Dalton also remembers the first time he jumped his dirt bike. He had made a “race course” around his yard that he would ride in and it happen to take him over an embankment. He said one day he was trying to ride as fast (and er- ratically) as he could through is course that’s when he got the idea to jump the little hill. He said at first he was kinda scared and never gave his bike enough power to actually jump it, well that is until he gunned it causing his bikes front tire to come off the ground right before the top of the hill. This in turn made the bike totally leave the ground for a very short amount if time. He was so shocked and excited that he had to stop his bike and walk away for a moment.

Now Dalton is working again to start racing. After he took a short break from his love of dirt bikes he has found that no other hobby can quite fill the spot in his heart for the passion of riding. So now he’s gotten a new bike and he is working to get better at riding once more. He hopes to get a bigger bike over the summer and plans to enter a few races as well. Personally I be- lieve he is at his happiest when he’s on his dirt bike. And you’ll always find a smile come across his face when he talks about his dirt bikes.

As for the future, Dalton dreams of going pro, he wants to become a professional motorsports rider. He said that he dreams of being at the center of an arena with the crowds cheering him on to victory. I asked him what his ultimate bike was, and he said it would be a 250cc bike with a bright orange, green, and purple frame and plastics. Betty Boop

Betty Boop was a cartoon character from the 1930s. She was originally voiced by Mae Questel. She was creat- ed by . Betty Boop made her first appear- ance on August 9, 1930, in the cartoon Dizzy Dishes where she was por- trayed as a humanoid French poodle. Max Fleischer finalized Betty Boop as a human character in 1932 in the cartoon “Any Rags”. Her dog ears were turned into hoop earrings, her dog nose became a human nose, and her tail was removed. Along with those changes new characters were added to the cartoon as Koko the clown and Bimbo the dog. Various episodes included music from a famous blues singer of the time Cab Calloway. Her design was based off of the singer . Betty also got the catchphrase “Boop-oop-a-doop” from one of Helens songs. Betty had only one cartoon originally made in color (Poor Cinderella). Pop- eyes first film appearance was in a Betty Boop cartoon. After the Hays Code was enforced ,http://www.artsreformation.com/a001/hays- code.html. Bettys cartoons had to be changed due to censorship, her character became more of a housewife and Koko and Bimbo were re- moved and replaced with Pudgy the dog, Bettys kids, and Grampy.
