Type specimens from the collection of the polyneopteran insect orders (Dermaptera, Blattodea, Orthoptera, Phasmatodea) deposited in the Department of Entomology, National Museum, Prague are catalogued. We provide precise infor- mation about types of 100 taxa (5 species of Dermaptera, 3 species of Blattodea, 4 species of Phasmatodea, 55 species of Caelifera, and 33 species of Ensifera), including holotypes of 38 taxa. The year of publication of Calliptamus tenuicer- cis anatolicus MaĜan, 1952 and Calliptamus tenuicercis iracus MaĜan, 1952 are corrected. The authorship of the names traditionally ascribed to J. Obenberger is discussed in detail. Only the name Podisma alpinum carinthiacum Obenberger, 1926 is available since the publication by OBENBERGER (1926a). ‘Stenobothrus (Stauroderus) biguttulus ssp. bicolor Charp. 1825’ and ‘Stenobothrus (Stau- roderus) ssp. collinus Karny’ sensu OBENBERGER (1926a,b) refer to Gryllus bicolor Charpentier, 1825 and Stauroderus biguttulus var. collina Karny, 1907, respectively, which both have to be considered available already since their original descriptions by CHARPENTIER (1825) and KARNY (1907). Acta Biologica Sibirica 6: 229–247. https://doi.org/10.3897/abs.6.e54139 Abstract An annotated list of Orthopteroidea of rise paddy fields in Kyzylorda oblast in South Kazakhstan is given. A total of 60 species of orthopteroid insects were identified, belonging to 58 genera from 17 families and 5 orders. Mantids are represented by 3 families, 6 genera and 6 species; cockroaches – by 2 families, 2 genera and 2 species; earwigs – by 3 families, 3 genera and 3 species; sticks insects – by 1 family, 1 genus and 1 species. Orthopterans are most numerous (8 families, 46 genera and 48 species). Of these, three species, Bolivaria brachyptera, Hierodula tenuidentata and Ceraeocercus fuscipennis, are listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Celes variabilis and Chrysochraon dispar indicated for the first time for a given location. The fauna of orthopteroid insects in the studied areas of Kyzylorda is compared with other regions of Kazakhstan. -

Chobanov & Branislava Mihajlova Abstract During the revision of the Orthoptera collection of the Macedonian Museum of Natural History (Skopje) in 2004, four Mantodea and 102 Orthoptera species (al- together 1057 specimens) collected in the Republic of Macedonia were deter- mined. Furthermore, a revision of the literature about the Macedonian orthopte- ran fauna was executed and some own unpublished records were added. As a result of the present study, eight taxa are added and 27 taxa are subtracted from the list of the Macedonian fauna. Thus, the updated check list of the Orthoptera fauna of Macedonia comprises four species of Mantodea, 167 Orthoptera taxa and two additional subspecies. The study also revealed that two Orthoptera spe- cies must be eliminated from the list of the Serbian fauna. Zusammenfassung Im Zuge der Bearbeitung der Orthopterensammlung des Naturhistorischen Mu- seums von Mazedonien (Skopje), im Jahre 2004, konnten vier Mantiden- und 102 Orthopterenarten (zusammen 1057 Individuen), die in der Republik Mazedo- nien gesammelt wurden, untersucht werden. Zusätzlich wurde eine umfangreiche Literaturstudie über die mazedonische Orthopterenfauna durchgeführt, die weite- re Nachweise lieferte. Die vorliegende Studie ergab acht neue Taxa für Mazedo- nien, wohingegen 27 der für die mazedonische Fauna angegebenen Taxa nicht in Mazedonien vorkommen. Die aktuelle Checkliste der Orthopterenfauna Maze- doniens enthält somit vier Arten Gottesanbeterinnen, 167 Heuschreckenarten und zwei weitere Unterarten. -

Januar 2015 To the knowledge of the Ensifera (Insecta: Orthoptera) fauna in Mashhad and vicinity, NE Iran Nahid GHOLAMI, Lida FEKRAT, Mehdi MODARRES AWAL, Mojtaba HOSSEINI and Mustafa UNAL Abstract In 2013, several samplings were conducted in order to survey fauna of Ensifera (Insecta: Orthoptera) from Mashhad and vicinity. Totally 12 species belonging to 9 Genera and 3 families were collected and identified. Among them Ceraeocerus fuscipennis fuscipennis and Platycleis fatima fatima were newly recorded for the fauna of Iran. Key words: Ensifera, Orthoptera, Fauna, Iran. Zusammenfassung 2013 wurden Aufsammlungen von Ensifera (Insecta: Orthoptera) in Mashhad und Umgebung im Nordosten desIrans durchgeführt. Insfgesamt gelang der Nachweis von 12 Arten aus 9 Gattungen und 3 Familien. Ceraeocerus fuscipennis fuscipennis und Platycleis fatima fatima konnten erstmalig für den Iran nachgewiesen werden. 229 Introduction Thanks to the efforts of several Orthopterologists, the Orthoptera fauna of Iran is fairly well known. Studies of UVAROV (1921, 1922, 1929), BEY-BIENKO meanwhile 1958- 1960, BEY-BIENKO & MISTSHENKO (1951) as well as surveys of SHUMAKOV (1963) provided a great amount of data on Iranian Orthoptera. The great role of some orthopteran experts such as MIRZAYANS (1951, 1959, 1969, 1990, 1991, 1998), HASHEMI (1976), SOLTANI (1978), NEYESTANAK (2000a, b, c; 2002, 2003), ÜNAL (2005, 2006, 2012), GARAI (2010, 2011) and HODJAT (2012) in advancement of knowledge should not neglected. As the result of their scientific activities, some faunistic records and also description of newly discovered species were been published. Despite the relatively great knowledge of Iranian Orthopteroids, more studies, even in well-explored areas, still result in new records. -

First European Congress on Orthoptera Conservation 14. Heuschreckentagung Trier, 18 – 20 March 2016 Venue You may reach Trier either by train, car or bus. A free parking is available in front of Campus II. The next airports are Luxembourg Findel, Frankfurt Hahn (note that this airport is closer to Trier than to Frankfurt and mainly used by Ryanair) or Saarbrücken. During weekends, a direct bus connection between the city center and campus 2 exists only for Saturdays. In this case, bus line 85 leaves the city center hourly between 10:10 a.m. and 19:10 p.m (bus station "Porta nigra"). A return to the city center is possible hourly between 09:59 a.m. and 18:59 p.m. Campus 2 can be reached earlier/later, more frequent and on Sundays by the bus line 83, bus station “Kohlenstraße”. Note that you have to calculate a ten minute walk from the bus station to campus 2. Both bus lines drive along the central train station. The host institution, Trier University, has a focus on humanities and social sciences. However environmental sciences are strongly represented in the Faculty of Regional and Environmental Sciences, including the Department of Biogeography. -

ARTICULATA 2013 28 (1/2): 69‒90 FAUNISTIK The Orthoptera fauna of Cserhát Hills and its surroundings (North Hungary) Gergely Szövényi, Krisztián Harmos & Barnabás Nagy Abstract Cserhát is an orthopterologically relatively less studied region of the North Hun- garian Mountains. After a faunistic research conducted here, the Orthoptera fauna of the Cserhát region is summarized. The pool of formerly known 33 spe- cies is raised to 67, which is about 53% of the total Orthoptera fauna of Hungary. Seven of them (Acrida ungarica, Isophya modesta, Leptophyes discoidalis, Poly- sarcus denticauda, Poecilimon fussii, Saga pedo, Tettigonia caudata) are legally protected and two (Isophya costata, Paracaloptenus caloptenoides) strictly pro- tected in Hungary. Others (Aiolopus thalassinus, Chorthippus dichrous, Oedaleus decorus, Pachytrachis gracilis, Pezotettix giornae, Platycleis affinis, Rhacocleis germanica, Ruspolia nitidula, Tessellana veyseli) are zoogeographically also valuable here, near their northern-northwestern areal limit. Zusammenfassung Der Orthopteren-Fauna der nördlichen Mittelgebirge Ungarns ist ziemlich gut er- forscht, aber die Hügellandschaft Cserhát, in den westlichen Teil der Nördlichen Mittelgebirge, bildete bisher eine Ausnahme. Basierend auf unsere Untersuchun- gen, durchgeführt zwischen 1963 und 2011, hat sich die Artenzahl hier auf 67 erhöht (= 53% der Orthopteren-Arten Ungarns). Sieben Arten davon stehen in Ungarn unter gesetzlichem Naturschutz (Acrida ungarica, Isophya modesta, Lep- tophyes discoidalis, Polysarcus denticauda, Poecilimon fussii, Saga pedo, Tetti- gonia caudata), zwei sogar unter noch strengerem Naturschutz (Isophya costata, Paracaloptenus caloptenoides). Es gibt noch auch weitere, zoogeographisch in- teressante Arten (Aiolopus thalassinus, Chorthippus dichrous, Oedaleus deco- rus, Pachytrachis gracilis, Pezotettix giornae, Platycleis affinis, Rhacocleis germanica, Ruspolia nitidula, Tessellana veyseli), von denen manche hier am nördliche Rand ihres Verbreitungsgebiet vorkommen. -

Saving Waves: BioAcoustica Progress Report 1 Ed Baker March 2016 Abstract This report details work on the BioAcoustica project up to the end of March 2016. Functionality and datasets currently available are described and ongoing work is listed. Usage statistics are provided and future plans are presented. Outputs of the project are listed in appendices including a list of peer-reviewed papers generated by the project and peer-reviewed papers that have deposited their bioacoustic data in BioAcoustica. In ad- dition a list of species which are represented in the BioAcoustica database is provided.
