Det ændre sig pludseligt, den dag Keiki kommer og hævder at Yoko er hans herskerinde og at hun må følge med han, for at redde sit liv. Yoko kastes nu ud på en rejse hvor hun må flygte fra kæmpedyr og klare sig selv. Hun befinder sig i en anden verden. Hun er fremmed og alle vil have fat i hende. Hun længes utroligt meget efter at komme hjem, men umiddelbart er der ingen vej tilbage fra denne mærkelige verden, medmindre man er gud eller et ophøjet væsen, og Yoko er jo ingen af delene. Startpris: 20 kr. 13 Rurouni Kenshin 1 og 2 (engelsk) – Vare nr. 233 Historien om Rurouni Kenshin finder sted i løbet af den tidlige Meiji æra i Japan. Den fortæller historien om en fredelig vandringsmand opkaldt Himura Kenshin, tidligere kendt som snigmorder "Hitokiri Battōsai". Efter at have deltaget i Bakumatsu krigen, vandrer Kenshin rundt i Japan og tilbyder beskyttelse og støtte til dem i nød som soning for de mord, han engang har begået som en snigmorder. Hedeman Date Defended: April 27, 2015 ii The Dissertation Committee for Angela Moots certifies that this is the approved version of the following dissertation: Perceptions of Syncope in Medieval French Literature of the High Middle Ages: the Function and Cultural History of Fainting ________________________________ Chairperson Caroline Jewers Date approved: May 11, 2015 iii Abstract This dissertation analyzes the diverse instances of syncope in Old French Literature from the first appearance of the verb to faint, “pasmer,” in the eleventh-century hagiographical text La Vie de saint Alexis, to the epics, the romances based on classical antiquity, the works of Chrétien de Troyes, and the thirteenth-century romances of the Arthurian Lancelot en prose. In literature, syncope ranges from a simple collapse or swooning to an extended period of unconsciousness or trance-like paralysis, and results from factors such as distress, injury, illness, love, joy, fear, or indecision. In addition to being physical, psychological, or emotional, fainting can be gendered in unexpected ways, as the male characters lose consciousness most frequently. In this study, I show that syncope highlights certain events and characteristics, externalizes emotions, dramatizes illnesses, unveils hidden love, shows the effects of broken relationships, and depicts the consequences of actions.

Antonija Cavcic ii ABSTRACT Boys’ love (BL) manga (as a genre of Japanese comics) with either homoerotic or homosocial graphics and content, is largely produced by and for female readers. Much like the audacious women writers in Victorian Britain, these amateur female BL artists (dōjin) and their respective consumers in Japan have arguably empowered themselves as a subcultural community, as well as the represented LGBT community, through progressive and often radical means. Although much scholarly attention has focused on the readers’ gratifications and why BL has such a large female readership, little attention has been given to how, or the extent to which, the popularity of BL manga has potentially fostered LGBT visibility; or to the illustrators who have continued to independently publish such content at their own expense. Essenitally, I analyse the positive socio-economic effects and greater significance which lie in autonomous authorship, exclusive fan rituals, and their potential by-product of progression towards equality in terms of gender and sexuality.
