Ključne besede: smučanje prostega sloga, nova šola smučanja, snežni park, snežni žleb, drsenje po pripravah RAZVOJ DISCIPLINE NOVE ŠOLE SMUČANJA MED LETOMA 1999 IN 2015 Marko Bašin Univerza v Ljubljani, Fakulteta za šport, 2016 Športno treniranje – alpsko smučanje Število strani: 77; število virov: 24; število slik: 40; število grafov: 14 IZVLEČEK Nova šola smučanja je specifična oblika prostega sloga smučanja, ki vključuje trike in drsenja na različnih pripravah, ki jih najpogosteje najdemo v snežnem parku. Smučanje prostega sloga je z leti postalo priljubljena in privlačna zimska športna dejavnost. Key words: freestyle skiing, new schools skiing, snow park, halfpipe, slopestyle DEVELOPMENT OF NEW SCHOOL SKIING DISCIPLINE BETWEEN 1999 AND 2015 Marko Bašin University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Sport, 2016 Sport training – Alpine skiing Number of pages: 77; number of sources: 24; numbers of figures: 40; number of graphs 14 ABSTRACT New school skiing is a specific type of freestyle skiing which includes tricks and slides on different features, that are mostly found in snow parks. Freestyle Skiing has over the years become a popular and attractive winter sport activity particularly among young people. More and more young people are choosing new school skiing in snow parks instead of the classic alpine skiing. Therefore, the manufacturers of ski equipment and ski resort managers respond by offering suitable equipment and polygons for practicing new tricks. Indeed, films about the new school skiing and television broadcasts of X-Games brought new school skiing to the general public and by so helped the growth of the popularity of the sport. New school skiers were starting to perform more complex tricks in desire to win. For the execution of new and more complex tricks a new and more systematical training process had to be established, which has brought development and progress of the new school skiing in general. The thesis is dedicated to those dealing with new school skiing, either for recreation or competition, as well as for those who are interested in the development of this sport or are connected to it in any way. The introductory chapter’s presents the development of freestyle skiing in our country and around the world, the development of this sport in the context of the use of snow parks and the role of X-Games in the promotion of the sport. The following chapters describe Snow Park and all its elements, because new school skiing takes place in the park most of the time. All the tricks and other elements of new school skiing which were evolved over the years are described in details. In conclusion is the detailed analysis of three disciplines of the new school skiing: big air, slopestyle and halfpipe. In every discipline there are graphs that explain how air time has changed over the years and how the number of rotations and inversions changed. Lastly, the most used grabs in every discipline are explained. The purpose of the thesis was to thoroughly research and describe the setup, planning, design, and construction of an efficient concrete skatepark by fo- cusing on the execution of the building process and the engineering aspects and requirements. One aim was to provide better understanding on the whole concept behind building a skatepark and point out and analyze different challenges in its construction. Another aim was to show the importance of skateboarding and of having such a facility in any municipality for the well-being of the young commu- nity and of youth in general. All research information was both gathered from various internet re- sources and presented by Windmill Skate Company. The result of this thesis was the creation of a skatepark construction guide for familiarizing oneself with the basics of design, planning and building of such an athletic reinforced concrete facility. It can serve as a reference for getting better acquainted with this particular branch of construction and its different aspects and details. I typically break a board every week or two but this board has been shred- ded on and not even a single pressure crack has been formed.
