PALAVRAS CHAVE : paródia – intertextualidade – televisão – produção de sentido - Os Simpsons 8 A Intertextualidade Geradora de Sentido No Gênero Desenho Animado de Núcleo Familiar “Os Simpsons” Cláudia Regina da Silva Franzão ABSTRACT Having in mind that meaning generation involves several aspects to be considered, this research is developed on The Simpsons text, on which, through an intertextual analysis of the simpsonian parodistic text, we intend to outline a parallel between parody and intertextuality when a product of apparently globalized understanding is built up, but which also keeps both deeper meanings and intentions between its lines. While examining probable desired meaning by the authors of the series, we present a five-episode analysis (1997-2007), whose intertextuality, most time shown explicitly, reminds the viewers to television enunciations, literature texts, social-historic texts and linguistics expressions used not only in the American Culture, but also in the Western Culture as a whole. To exam our time patch under the Media Culture focus, we were served theory knowledge from several related areas, however, the produced text is based firmly on theories from Discourse Analysis, Semiotics and the New Theories about Communication. KEY-WORDS: parody – intertextuality – television – meaning production – The Simpsons 9 A Intertextualidade Geradora de Sentido No Gênero Desenho Animado de Núcleo Familiar “Os Simpsons” Cláudia Regina da Silva Franzão SUMÁRIO Introdução .......................................................................................................... 12 Capítulo 1. The promenade began at six in the evening, followed directly by the dinner. The prom theme was Tropical Night and the Features juniors decorated with tiki men and palm trees. For dinner, the juniors chose to o serve pork loin, a mashed potato casserole, green beans, Hawaiian rolls and fruit bowls with a key lime pie dessert. Honor At the dance, attendants were subjectivly entertained by a swing dance by Mr. Banquet... and Mrs. Calkins along with a dance-off between senior Shannon Webster and pg. 6 another student’s date. It was a very upbeat dance with two-steps, line-dances and the right balance of fast and slow songs. After the dance, students were allowed 30 minutes to change, and then were n bussed to the Mullinville gymnasium for After-Prom. At the After-Prom party, students were provided with a vast variety of games to win either cash or tickets for four big prizes that would be drawn at the end of the night. The big prizes were an Apple I-pad, an automobile tune-up set, a camera, an X-Box 360, a tele- vision and Blu-ray player and an I-pod touch. There were also prizes for guessing State Music... games. • Memetic Proliferation and Fan Participation in the Simpsons
THE UNIVERSITY OF HULL Craptacular Science and the Worst Audience Ever: Memetic Proliferation and Fan Participation in The Simpsons being a Thesis submitted for the Degree of PhD Film Studies in the University of Hull by Jemma Diane Gilboy, BFA, BA (Hons) (University of Regina), MScRes (University of Edinburgh) April 2016 Craptacular Science and the Worst Audience Ever: Memetic Proliferation and Fan Participation in The Simpsons by Jemma D. Gilboy University of Hull 201108684 Abstract (Thesis Summary) The objective of this thesis is to establish meme theory as an analytical paradigm within the fields of screen and fan studies. Meme theory is an emerging framework founded upon the broad concept of a “meme”, a unit of culture that, if successful, proliferates among a given group of people. Created as a cultural analogue to genetics, memetics has developed into a cultural theory and, as the concept of memes is increasingly applied to online behaviours and activities, its relevance to the area of media studies materialises. The landscapes of media production and spectatorship are in constant fluctuation in response to rapid technological progress. The internet provides global citizens with unprecedented access to media texts (and their producers), information, and other individuals and collectives who share similar knowledge and interests. The unprecedented speed with (and extent to) which information and media content spread among individuals and communities warrants the consideration of a modern analytical paradigm that can accommodate and keep up with developments. Meme theory fills this gap as it is compatible with existing frameworks and offers researchers a new perspective on the factors driving the popularity and spread (or lack of popular engagement with) a given media text and its audience.

The Goodland Star-News / Tuesday, August 14, 2007 5 Like puzzles? Then you’ll love sudoku. This mind-bending puzzle will have FUN BY THE NUMBERS you hooked from the moment you square off, so sharpen your pencil and put your sudoku savvy to the test! Here’s How It Works: Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, col- umn and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!
