ADJOURNMENT 5 CHRONOLOGY OF THE MEETING:

The meeting was called to order by Deputy Mayor Stevens at 6:10 p.m. Deputy Mayor Stevens thanked the Scripps Ranch High School Rising Star Marching Band and Band Director Dean Hickman for their outstanding performance. Deputy Mayor Stevens announced that the band will be the first American high school marching band to ever perform in the People’s Republic of China. This summer they will be performing in Bijing, Shanghai, and San Diego’s sister city, Yantai. Deputy Mayor Stevens also thanked the team at the San Diego Concourse for their assistance in making tonight very special.

After being introduced by Deputy Mayor Stevens, Mayor Murphy acknowledged and welcomed Mayor Juan Manuel Gastelum Buenrostro of the City of ; Antonio Gonzalez Arenas, Sindico Procurador of the City of Tijuana; Luz Maria D’Avila from the City of Tijuana; Jorge D’Garay from the City of Tijuana; San Diego Chief of Police David Bejarano; City of San Diego Fire Chief Robert Osby; Michael Inzunza, District Director for Supervisor Cox; former Council Member Judy McCarty; Ernie Dronenberg, President of the County Board of Education. Before adjourning the meeting, Deputy Mayor Stevens invited everyone to join the Mayor and City Council for a reception in the foyer immediately following the meeting. The meeting was adjourned by Deputy Mayor Stevens at 7:05 p.m.

Invocation was given by Father Henry Rodriguez of St. Jude’s Shrine

Prior to the invocation, Deputy Mayor Stevens introduced Mayor Murphy’s wife, Jan. Deputy Mayor Stevens also recognized his colleagues from San Diego’s 63rd City Council: Council Member Peters, Council Member Wear, Council Member Atkins, Council Member Maienschein, Council Member Stallings, and Council Member Madaffer. He stated that there is currently a vacancy in Council District 8. He also introduced City Attorney Casey Gwinn, City Manager Mike Uberuaga, and City Clerk Chuck Abdelnour. Prior to the Pledge, the U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard under the direction of Sgt. Adrian Jones presented the Colors.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Judge David Szumowski, former United States Army Lieutenant.

The National Anthem was sung by Norman Verdeprado.

The U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard retired the Colors.

Deputy Mayor Stevens introduced Mayor Murphy.
