CAST BIOS GÉRARD DEPARDIEU (Cardinal Mazarin) – Gérard Depardieu is one of the world's most respected and recognizable actors. The third of six children of a poor sheet metal worker, he had a troubled youth. Running into a friend who was training at the Theatre Nationale Populaire in Paris, Depardieu tagged along, showed promise, and was offered a position there sans tuition. Depardieu has worked in well over a hundred international films including “Jean de Florette,” “Vatel,” “Le Comte de Monte Cristo,” “The Man in the Iron Mask,” “Camille Claudel,” “Les Comperes” and “The Return of Martin Guerre.” He won a Golden Globe award for his performance in “Green Card” and earned an Oscar ® nomination for his work in “Cyrano de Bergerac.” # # # NASTASSJA KINSKI (Lady Bolton) – Nastassja Kinski won a Golden Globe award as New Star of the Year for her role in “Tess.” The daughter of famed German actor Klaus Kinski, she has appeared in countless foreign films and American releases such as “Cat People,” “Exposed,” “Unfaithfully Yours,” “The Hotel New Hampshire,” “Paris, Texas,” “Maria’s Lovers,” “Your Friends & Neighbors” and “Town & Country.” The international beauty has also appeared on television in the movies “The Ring,” “Bella Mafia,” “A Storm in Summer” and “Les Liaisons Dangereuses.” # # # SUSIE AMY (Valentine D’Artagnon) – Susie Amy was born in London and raised in Surrey, England. Her mother is a teacher; her father is a financial consultant; and her older sister is a geneticist. So the plucky star had to swordfight against the guys, which she believes may have been to her advantage in getting the role. # # # MICHAEL YORK (D’Artagnan) – Michael York started his career as a member of the National Youth Theatre. He graduated with honors in English from Oxford University. In 1965, he joined the National Theatre Company in a production directed by Franco Zeffirelli, who cast him in his feature film “Romeo and Juliet" and the television miniseries "Jesus of Nazareth." Among York’s most memorable movies are "Cabaret," “The Last Remake of Beau Geste," "The Three Musketeers," "Logan's Run," "The Island of Dr. Moreau" and, most recently, the “Austin Powers” franchise. His television work includes "The Forsythe Saga," "Great Expectations," "Space," and "The Lot," for which ® he received an Emmy nomination. York also lends his voice to audio books and earned a Grammy Award nomination for his recording of “Treasure Island.” An author himself, he has written the children's book “The Magic Paw Paw,” “Making ‘Megiddo’: A Devilish Diary,” his autobiography “Accidentally on Purpose,” and “A Shakespearean Actor Prepares,” which he co-authored with actor/director Adrian Brine. York serves as the Chairperson of California Youth Theatre, which provides a performing arts education for to enrich and shape young people. # # # JOHN RHYS-DAVIES (Porthos) – John Rhys-Davies began acting in Shakespeare plays at the age of 13 at Truro School in Cornwall, England. By the time he had graduated from the then new University of East Anglia, where he founded the University Dramatic Society, he had created an impressive amateur resume. He graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1969, then worked at the Royal Shakespeare Company. Rhys-Davies made his feature film debut in “The Black Windmill,” where he was blown up before the title sequence. His more than 80 additional film credits include “Victor/Victoria,” “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” and “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, in which he played Gimli, the courageous dwarf. For “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King,” Rhys-Davies and his costars won the award for Outstanding Performance by the Cast of a Theatrical Motion Picture by the Screen Actors Guild.
