Supporting the growth of public engagement with science in smaller institutions as well as newly minted centres and museums in Eastern Europe has also been a focus of my Ecsite Presidency. I am proud that more institutions WWW.ECSITE.EU 3 Robert Firmhofer from underrepresented countries such as Croatia and Russia, among others, are taking notice of Ecsite and are attending the conference. This is how Ecsite will continue to broaden its horizons, share knowledge far and wide, and also learn new ways of operating. As my two-year Ecsite presidential term comes to a close, I express my grat- itude to all of you for making it a pleasure and honour to represent this network. Let’s keep up the strong momentum toward fulfilling Ecsite’s Strategic Plan. Traditioner är viktiga och skall bevaras. Samtidigt får vi aldrig fastna i det gamla och förgångna. En god organisation vaggar som en anka genom livet. Med ena foten i traditionerna. I det som varit. Den andra foten söker nya vägar. Prövar nya sätt att leva och verka. Ligger tyngden på endast det ena, förloras tillslut helheten och innehållet. Varje söndag kl 11:00 firar vi högmässa på Gentzgasse 10. Delar av högmässans ordning kan spåra sina rötter tillbaka till urkyrkans tid. En tradition som bestått i snart 2000 år. Vid samma gudstjänst sjunger vi kanske en sång skriven i år. Så blandas det gamla och det nya, tradition och förnyelse, och bildar en ny, levande enhet. Svenska kyrkan i Wien är en underbar blandning av tradition och förnyelse. Av stolt historia och kreativt nyskapande. En levande församling där vi vilar i det gamla och nyfiket hittar nya vägar. Ibland är processen smärtsam. Inte allt är värt att bevaras bara för att det varit så. Inte allt som är nytt är alltid bra. Men med respekt och lyhördhet för varandra får vi tillsammans söka vägen framåt. En kyrka är så mycket mer än bara byggnaden vi samlas i. Faktum är att kyrko- byggnaden är mer en praktisk lösning för skydd mot väder och vind.
