The 15Th Edition of Imagineindia International Film Festival Will Kick out Next 17 May in Madrid “The 15th edition of Imagineindia International Film Festival will kick out next 17 may in Madrid. A prelude of the festival has had its space at the headquarters of B The Travel Brand Xperience in April and will continue in may and June. A total of 71 films in 14 sections, 7 venues (Filmoteca Española, B The Travel Brand Xperience, Teatro del barrio, Casa Asia, Función Lenguaje, Russian Center of science and culture and C.C. Pilar Miró) for 16 days will give good account of the independent film scene. Comedies, thrillers, dramas and much more where the public can choose to their taste! To highlight the films on/of Russian director Igor Savchenko, the Indian actress Suchitra Sen and the most outstanding concerned about social inequalities Indian director Shyam Benegal. Abound in the sections which reflect the efforts of the great institutions of India as the Tata Institute (TISS), or Public Broadcasting Service (PSBT) that year after year bring to the festival films from research on social trends, gender rights, situations of conflict, among many other social issues. This is only a list on Indian films based on literary works from writers from all around the world or on the lives and writings of Indian authors. I have only included the films that I’ve watched and liked as well as a few that I’d love to watch. There are many more, but I’ve skipped really mainstream films, so you will not find here any Bollywood stuff apart from some of its Golden Ages, the 1950’s. Suggestions are welcome.     Biography of Shyam Benegal Early life and education : Shyam Benegal, was born in a Brahmin family on 14 December 1934 in Trimulgherry, Secunderabad then a BritishCantonment, and now a twin city of the state capital, Hyderabad. It was here, at age twelve that he made his first film, on a camera given to him by his photographer father Sridhar B. Benegal. He received an M.A. in Economics, fromNizam College, Osmania University, Hyderabad. It was here that he formed the Hyderabad Film Society. Family Benegal is related to the famous film director and actor Guru Dutt; his paternal grandmother and Guru Dutt's maternal grandmother were sisters, both nominally Konkan is speaking Chitrapur Saraswats from Uttara Kannadadistrict of Karnataka. Early career He started his career working in 1959, as an advertising copywriter, at a Bombay-based advertising agency, Lintas Advertising, where he steadily rose to become a creative head. Meanwhile, he made his first documentary inGujarati, Gher Betha Ganga (Ganges at Doorsteps) in 1962. His first feature film though, had to wait another decade, while he worked on the script. In 1963 he started a brief stint with another advertising agency called ASP (Advertising, Sales and Promotion).During his advertising years, he directed over 900 sponsored documentaries and advertising films. Between 1966 and 1973, Shyam also taught at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, and twice served as the institute's chairman, (1980–83) and (1989–92).
