Great mini book about Leslie Van HoutenBy rkrystofolskiGreat mini book about Leslie Van Houten, the youngest and least culpable of the Women convicted of . Leslie Van Houten was not present during the mass murder of 5 people at the Tate residence but was present the next night for the double murder at the LaBianca residence, along with and Charles "Tex" Watson. Although convicted of the 2 of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca, later admitted that he actually committed both murders and that Mrs. LaBianca was already deceased when Van Houten stabbed her. Leslie Van Houten was approved for parole by the parole board, but wasn't released because the governor refused parole despite the parole board's approval3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. InterestingBy MarlanaThis is a very interesting short read for those curious about and one of the Manson girls. I wish it was a little longer because I would really like to know why these girls followed him and what inside them is broken that they could so easily follow him. Factually inaccurate, horribly written with more errors than I could even count (well over 100, in grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.). I feel like I should have been paid to read this mess. I would guess that this is the same author who wrote the similarly horrible book on Patricia Krenwinkel, and based on her writing she appears to be about 12 years old.. I would give it zero stars if I could.

Leslie Van Houten is a former member of Charles Manson's ldquo;Familyrdquo;. She was convicted in 1971 for the killings of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca. Leslie's sentencing was part of the main Charles Manson trial but she blamed her actions on the control Manson had over her. Houten, Manson and two other members of the ldquo;Familyrdquo; were convicted and sentenced to death row until a new law commuted their punishment to . Van Houten's lawyer passed away during the course of her trial and her convictions were thrown out. She then went to trial again, her primary defense being that she had a diminished mental capacity because of the drugs Manson had given her. The jury remained deadlocked. But Leslie would go to trial a third time. She would be convicted and sentenced to two life sentences. Amazingly, after over twenty different hearings, the California state board decided to make Leslie eligible for parole. On April 16th, 2016, Governor agreed.
