Since it was founded in 1897, the university has grown to become a nationally ranked research university. • San Diego State College of Professional Studies & Fine Arts cuts funding to marching and basketball bands. The President’s Office urged Athletics to come up with a solution. • After reorganization, Marching Aztecs and Pep & Varsity Bands moved to Department of Athletics, in line with other universities. • Bryan Ransom, former member and longtime assistant, named Director of Athletic Bands • From a spreadsheet of 200 e-mails only, no names, I organized the first ever official SDSU Marching Aztecs Alumni at Homecoming. 2003 2005
