ABOUT JOE “In the game of life, God - our head coach - is the single most important factor in winning” -JOE GIBBS Joe Gibbs was born November 25, 1940 in Mocksville, North Carolina. He is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame due to his success as coach of the Redskins. During Joe Gibbs’ first tenure with the Redskins, from 1981-1992, he led them to eight playoff appearances, four NFC championships, and three Super Bowl titles. During Coach Gibbs’ second tenure with the Redskins (between 2004-2008), he led them to the NFC playoffs in his second year back. Coach Gibbs started coaching as an offensive line coach under Don Coryell at San Diego State from 1964-1966, held the same position at Florida State from 1967-1968. He then served under John McKay at USC from 1969- 1970 and Frank Boyles at Arkansas, from 1971-1972. In the pro ranks he served as an offensive backfield coach for the St. Louis Cardinals, from 1973-1977, again for Don Coryell; was offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buc- caneers, in 1978, under McKay, and rejoined Coryell with the San Diego Chargers for the 1979 and 1980 seasons. With Gibbs as the offensive coordinator for the Chargers, the “Air Coryell” offense set numerous records, including becoming the first ever to average more than 400 yards per game of total offense. In 1981 Redskins’ owner Jack Kent Cooke gave Joe Gibbs a chance to become a head coach after 17 years as an assistant coach. As Joe finished up coaching, his good friend Don Meredith began exploring NASCAR for opportunities to race and Joe Gibbs Racing was launched in 1991. With major sponsors like Home Depot, FedEx, Mars Candy, Coca Cola and Toy- ota, Joe Gibbs Racing is a powerhouse which has won three Cup championships. His Nextel Cup team includes Kyle Busch, Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin. The main race shop is in Huntersville, NC, employing over 450 and occupying a 250,000 square foot facility. Serving others through Christian ministry has always been close to Joe Gibbs’ heart and in 1986 he helped found Youth for Tomorrow, a residential youth home, private school, and counseling center for at-risk teenage girls and boys in the Washington metropolitan area. More than 800 young people have been touched by the center. Coach Gibbs lives in North Carolina. He is married to Pat and has two sons, JD (Melissa) and Coy (Heather), and eight grandchildren. ABOUT RENALDO Renaldo Wynn has spent most of his life making an impact on the football field. When he retired from the NFL following the 2009 season, opposing quarterbacks likely rejoiced that the powerful defensive end would have to find another venue to make an impact. Wynn found that opportunity in 2012 when he joined his former Coach of the Washington Redskins at his NASCAR headquarters just outside of Char- lotte, North Carolina. While Wynn assists the marketing department at Joe Gibbs Racing his pri- mary responsibility is serving Coach Gibbs with an important message that can help others: God left us His game plan for our lives with the Bible. Game Plan for Life was a NY Times Bestseller and is also the name of Coach’s ministry. Wynn was a first round draft choice (21st overall) by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1997 after a stellar collegiate career at the University of Notre Dame. Wynn would play his first five NFL seasons with the Jaguars before coming to Washington prior to the start of the 2002 season. He played five seasons for the Redskins including three under Coach Gibbs, who had shocked the sporting world in 2004 by announcing a return to the football field. Wynn moved to New Orleans in 2007 and then New York in 2008 to play for the Giants where he was reunited with Coach Tom Coughlin, who drafted him out of Notre Dame when he was head coach of the Jaguars. Wynn returned to Washington for one final season in 2009 before retiring. A fan of racing, Wynn remained in contact with Coach and in 2012, Gibbs invited him to join the Game Plan for Life team to help Coach share God’s game plan for life message found in the Bible. Wynn and his wife LaTanya founded Family of Faith and The Renaldo Wynn Foundation in 2004 and were instrumental in starting the “Adopt a Child for the Holidays” program which partnered with corporations in the Washington, DC area to give gift cards to needy children during the Christmas season. The two now live in the Charlotte area with their daughter. 2015 UCLA FOOTBALL JIM MORA Head Coach 4th Season Washington '84 On December 10, 2011, former Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks head coach Jim Mora was named UCLA's 17th head coach in school history. In 2014, Coach Mora guided the Bruins to the ninth 10-win season in school his- tory, matching the school record for wins in a season. It marked the third straight year in which Mora's Bruins had produced at least nine wins, a À rst in program history. His 29 total wins are the most-ever by a UCLA coach in his initial three seasons on the job. Following the victory in the 2015 Alamo Bowl, UCLA had captured wins in 10 straight games away from the Rose Bowl to tie that school record, including a school-best 7-0 slate in 2014. That win was also the team's third over teams ranked among the Associated Press' Top 15 at the time of the contest, which was the most by the program since it defeated four such teams in 1952. The Bruins capped off the season ranked No. 10 in the À nal AP poll which was the highest for the program since 1998. Linebacker Eric Kendricks, who became the school's all-time leading tackler during the 2014 season, went on to be UCLA's À rst recipient of the Butkus Award and the À nished no lower than fourth in the NFL versus the run and in 2003, produced 42 second-straight winner of the Lott IMPACT Trophy. Quarterback Brett Hundley set sacks, to tie for second in the conference.

  • 2017 Joe Gibbs
JOE GIBBS: Team Owner Nearly a quarter century after winning his third Super Bowl as head coach of the NFL’s Washington Redskins, Joe Gibbs still hasn’t stopped adding to his impressive list of championships. Despite retiring as an NFL coach in 2008 after his second stint with the Redskins, the owner of Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) now has more Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Championships than Super Bowl wins as driver Kyle Busch helped Gibbs score his fourth title as an owner in NASCAR’s top series in 2015. As JGR enters its 26th season in 2017, Gibbs has shown no signs of slowing down as his team continues to shine as one of the sport’s premier organizations. Gibbs, who hails from Mocksville, North Carolina, oversees an organization that has produced four NASCAR Cup Series titles – Bobby Labonte in 2000, Tony Stewart in 2002 and 2005, and Kyle Busch in 2015. It also won NASCAR Xfinity Series owner titles in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2013, the Xfinity Series driver titles for Busch in 2009 and Daniel Suarez in 2016, and 267 NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series victories. Gibbs’ four Cup Series championships, five Xfinity Series titles, plus his three Super Bowl victories as coach of the Redskins in 1983, 1988 and 1992 mean he has won an incredible 12 championships in two of the most popular sports in the United States. “The thing that has always amazed me about championship runs in pro sports, at least in the four I’ve been involved with at JGR and the three I had in the NFL with the Redskins, is how difficult they are to win and how different they are, and that one year doesn’t buy you the next,” Gibbs said.

Joe Gibbs, Hall of Fame NFL Coach, Built The Redskins Into An Elite Team - In... Page 1 of 3 Print Close MANAGEMENT NFL Champion Coach Joe Gibbs Outclassed His Rivals By MIKE RICHMAN, FOR INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY Posted 09/12/2012 02:02 PM ET Joe Gibbs let his coaching on game day do the talking. He refused to mouth off during the week for fear it would create distractions for his team and motivate opponents. Case in point: When bombastic Philadelphia Eagles coach Buddy Ryan said a few days before a playoff game in January 1991 that Washington running back Earnest Byner would fumble three times, reporters pressed Gibbs for a response. The Redskins' coach refused to take Ryan's bait. Gibbs' silence spoke volumes about his disregard for triviality. "Joe was every bit as competitive as Buddy if not more, but he just never let it show because he understood that the whole circus act during the week didn't matter," Ray Didinger, a sportswriter at the time for the Philadelphia Daily News, told IBD. "All that mattered was what you did once the ball was kicked off. That was the way he prepared his team and that was the way they played against the Eagles." The Redskins beat the Eagles that day 20-6, one of Gibbs' most gratifying victories in his 16-year National Football League coaching career. Helping the coach have the last laugh were Byner's 77 yards receiving, 49 rushing — and no fumbles. Including that wild-card game, Gibbs boasted a playoff winning Gibbs took over the Redskins in 1981, won the NFL title the next year percentage of .708.

  • Kellen Winslow
THE COFFIN CORNER: Vol. 17, No. 1 (1995) KELLEN WINSLOW By Don Smith Thanks to a last-second trade with the Cleveland Browns, the San Diego Chargers were able to select Kellen Winslow in the first round of the 1979 NFL draft. It turned out to be a masterful move because Winslow, a 6-5, 250-pound consensus all-America tight end from Missouri, became an instant super-star and a powerful contributor to the NFL's most prolific offense in the early 1980s. Injuries limited his playing time on certain occasions and eventually caused him to retire in 1987 after just nine seasons. But when Winslow did play, he performed so spectacularly that opposition defenders lay awake nights wondering if there was any legal way to stop him. Altogether, he caught 541 passes for 6,741 yards and 45 touchdowns. At the time of his retirement, he ranked fifth in receptions among active players and 12th among the all-time leading receivers. He is only the fourth tight end to be elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Mike Ditka became the first Hall of Fame tight end in 1988 and he was followed by John Mackey in 1992 and Jackie Smith in 1994. Winslow's first few years in the NFL were, by his own admission, "like a fantasy." He began his rookie season on a high note with a team-leading 25 receptions in seven games before a broken leg suffered in the seventh game ended his season. But he bounced back a year later as good as ever with a career- high and NFL-leading 89 receptions, best ever for a tight end up to that time.

Wortham Theater Center Houston, Texas February 4, 2017 Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2017 Morten Andersen (on what it was like getting the knock at the door, and the fact that it’s been a long time since a kicker was inducted into the Hall of Fame) “Twenty-five years, I believe. I asked my wife, while we we’re in the room with some friends, ‘That’s an awful loud knock for room service. Is this a club sandwich?’ Dave (Baker), you didn’t have a club sandwich, but it was sure a nice alternative. It was very emotional – crying L.T. (LaDainian Tomlinson), I agree. We shed a few tears, and I’m tremendously humbled and excited to be in this class. Congratulations to everyone, it’s pretty mind blowing right now, I’m kind of floating, if you don’t mind.” (on what he knew about football coming from Denmark, and what it means for the country) “It’s going to be huge, there’s no question. I think the Crown Prince texted me (joking). I don’t know, maybe not. That would be kind of cool. I didn’t know anything about football when I came in 1977 and barely spoke the language. It happened very fast, watched the jamboree games in the metal bleachers, watched the quarterback-center exchange and said I don’t want to be that guy, or that guy. You have a big guy in tight pants bending over and then you have a small guy in equally tight pants going up behind him and I said, ‘No.

Well, here you go. The national crisis is over. The annual post-Super Bowl football withdrawal, a seemingly incurable malady that impacts millions every year the second weekend in February and lasts weeks and months, is now in the past thanks to The Alliance of American Football, the creation of Charlie Ebersol, a television and film producer, and Bill Polian, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. They have the football game plan, the business model with multiple big-money investors and a national television contract with CBS to succeed where other spring leagues have failed. The idea is not to compete with the National Football League. That’s a failed concept. The Alliance will complement the NFL and satisfy the insatiable appetite of football fans who otherwise would be suffering from a long period of depression.
