Families are selected through a careful matching process, which considers the preferences and requests of the student and host. Each match is confirmed in writing with a family profile and pictures of the family and a location map. The homestay program is managed by one of the leading homestay program management organizations in Canada. The Canada Homestay Network Society (CHNS) is a non-profit organization that has been supporting and advocating for OCDSB students and host families since 2000. Over the years CHNS has established a strong reputation for caring hospitality, responsiveness, dependability, and due diligence. Each student gets a warm welcome upon their arrival in Canada and care is taken to ensure that they are comfortable with their host family. Students participate in an orientation which includes tips on how to make their experience a positive and successful one. CHNS follows up with each student and their host to determine whether they require any special assistance.
