Whfle the most advanced technological means to photograph and reproduce this document have been used, the quality is heavily dependent upon the quality of the material submitted. The following explanation of techniques is provided to help you understand markings or notations vhich may appear on this reproduction. 1. The sign or “target” for pages apparently lacking from the document photographed is “Missing Page(s)”. If it was possible to obtain the missing page(s) or section, they are spliced into the film along with adjacent pages. This may have necessitated cutting through an image and duplicating adjacent pages to assure you of complete continuity. 2. When an image on the film is obliterated with a round black mark it is an indication that the film inspector noticed either blurred copy because of movement during exposure, or duplicate copy. -

Report Executive Committee The work of the County Executive Committee in overseeing the finances and work programmes of the Kent RFU has - as with all of us - been disrupted by the season effectively concluding towards the end of March. This put paid to at least half of our programme of maintaining contact with our clubs which had been initiated with close to 50 clubs physically through our insight evenings in season 18-19. Despite this, communication we hope has continued to improve with our 70 clubs in full or associate membership in the County and we thank our Administration Manager, Tracy Pettingale, for the discipline around contributions and the presentation and content of our website which several other Counties have complimented us on and sought help to build similar sites. -

Welcome to the Provisional BUCS Leagues Document for 2019-20 (V8 Released 16/12/19)
Welcome to the provisional BUCS leagues document for 2019-20 (V8 released 16/12/19) This first worksheet is a guide to the shadings used throughout the document to denote promoted/relegated/reshuffled/new/withdrawn teams. Please note that in most cases, leagues of 6 teams or less will meet each opposition twice (home and away), whilst leagues of 7 - 10 teams will meet each opposition once (home or away). Exceptions to this include the Premier Tier of Men’s Rugby Union, and in all sports (except Cricket) where a Tier 1 league has 7 teams, in which case in all of these leagues teams will be scheduled to meet each opposition twice (home and away).” You may notice that a few key sports are missing (American Football, Equestrian & Indoor Cricket). This is because the format of these leagues are currently being reviewed or still being finalised. Therefore we will be releasing these provisional leagues at a later date. Thank you for your patience with this. Please direct all feedback and queries to your regional competition representative in the first instance. They will be collating and organising the feedback before sending it back to BUCS. Please discuss possible contradictions/actions with all parties involved before submitting the feedback back to your regional rep. All feedback will be discussed in the BUCS Office and although we will try to accommodate where possible/appropriate, please note that changes are not guaranteed. Please note that changes relating to late results or incorrect score adjustments from the 2018-19 season will NOT be accommodated, as all BUCS leagues have now been locked as final. -

I was too much to han- dle, winning 3-0 in no time at all! (yes, a good start skip). 2nd on was Jamie, starting very slowly and find- ing himself 0-2 down, before waking up and digging very deep to come back to win 3-2. 3rd to play was Joe. He was playing Andy Whipp - a fantastic game both players being pushed to full stretch. Joe winning 3-1. On other court was James - a very exciting game. Men’s Senior Team: NATIONAL CHAMPIONS: Jamie Mathews, The game went the distance going to 5 games and James Simpson, Neil Frankland, Charles Sharpes and Joe Lee. James saving 6 match balls and then winning 13-11 in the 5th game! Charles was next on court knowing that Surrey were again National Champions. He decided to go out 'all guns blazing', winning 3-0 in no time at all! The Surrey team adding another title to their belts, making it 13 years of me being Captain and winning 8 of them in 10 finals! Surrey O-35: NATIONAL CHAMPIONS: Stacey Ross, Marc Aldridge, Mark Baker, Steve Nicholson, Dominic Marx and Neil Frankland. -

Mixture Models for Spherical Data with Applications to Protein Bioinformatics
Mixture models for spherical data with applications to protein bioinformatics Kanti V. Mardia1;2 , Stuart Barber1 , Philippa M. Burdett1 , John T. Kent1 , and Thomas Hamelryck3 [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] 1 School of Mathematics, University of Leeds, LS2 9JT, UK 2 Department of Statistics, University of Oxford, OX1 3LB, UK 3 Department of Biology/Department of Computer Science, University of Copenhagen, Denmark Abstract Finite mixture models are fitted to spherical data. Kent distributions are used for the components of the mixture because they allow considerable flexibility. Previ- ous work on such mixtures has used an approximate maximum likelihood estimator for the parameters of a single component. However, the approximation causes prob- lems when using the EM algorithm to estimate the parameters in a mixture model. Hence the exact maximum likelihood estimator is used here for the individual com- ponents. This paper is motivated by a challenging prize problem in structural bioinfor- matics of how proteins fold. It is known that hydrogen bonds play a key role in the folding of a protein. We explore this hydrogen bond geometry using a data set describing bonds between two amino acids in proteins. An appropriate coordinate system to represent the hydrogen bond geometry is proposed, with each bond rep- resented as a point on a sphere. We fit mixtures of Kent distributions to different subsets of the hydrogen bond data to gain insight into how the secondary structure elements bond together, since the distribution of hydrogen bonds depends on which arXiv:2104.13140v1 [math.ST] 27 Apr 2021 secondary structure elements are involved. -
