Sir Galahad was found to be in relatively good condition. It is believed to be from a 1500 ton clipper, circa 1860, and not from the Galahad (300 tons) built in 17 49 in Marblehead, Mass. It was a gift in 1927 from I. J. Mer­ ritt in memory of his father, Captain I. J. Merritt.
