Unfortunately there was a delay before we were all re-united with our luggage, but eventually we met Gerard and New Zealander, Jenny and were soon speeding north in our comfortable minibus, driven by Norbert. The weather was sunny and warm. We had a picnic stop in Budgyi before a natural history stop at the northern end of Kiskunsag National Park. While the main attraction was the dozen Great Bustards, there were plenty of butterflies on the roadside including Short-tailed Blue and Chestnut Heath. As we travelled on there were a couple of close fly-overs by Marsh Harriers and Turtle Doves. In open country we stopped alongside a farmstead with a huge herd of cattle in a vast pen alongside the road. Bee-eaters cruised around, with Tree Sparrow and Crested Lark also attracting attention. New butterflies were the familiar Red Admiral and Small Heath. -

Verbascum species (fam. Scrophulariaceae) contain a high concentration of rotenone and verbascoside and traditionally have long been used as insecticides. This study is aimed to investigate the larvicidal efficacy of Verbascum thapsus L. and V. phlomoides L. methanolic extracts in the suppression of the Plodia interpunctella (Hüb- ner, 1813), under laboratory conditions. The experiment was set up in two separate blocks (for two different extracts), each as 3˟3˟3 factorial trial: three concentrations of extracts (1, 2 and 5%) were tested against the three larval age groups (14, 14-28 and 28 days old) and each treatment was repeated three times. Mortality was recorded after 24, 48, 72, and 96 h. Both tested extracts were the most effective 96 h after the exposure in 5% concen- tration applied on the youngest larvae. Extract of V. thapsus caused the mortality of 64.00%, while in treatment with V. -

Southern Ontario Vascular Plant Species List (Sorted by Scientific Name) Based on the Ontario Plant List (Newmaster et al. 1998) David J. Bradley Southern Science & Information Section Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources Peterborough, Ontario Revised Edition, 2007 Southern Ontario Vascular Plant Species List This species checklist has been compiled in order to assist field biologists who are sampling vegetative plots in Southern Ontario. It is not intended to be a complete species list for the region. The intended range for this vascular plant list is Ecoregions (Site Regions) 5E, 6E and 7E. i Nomenclature The nomenclature used for this listing of 2,532 plant species, subspecies and varieties, is in accordance with the Ontario Plant List (OPL), 1998 [see Further Reading for full citation]. This is the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resource’s publication which has been selected as the corporate standard for plant nomenclature. There have been many nomenclatural innovations in the past several years since the publication of the Ontario Plant List that are not reflected in this listing. However, the OPL has a listing of many of the synonyms that have been used recently in the botanical literature. Flora of Çaltepe and Çeletepe (Bolu)

This study was carried out to reveal the vascular plant diversity of Çaltepe and Çeletepe. During 2015−2018, 2340 plant specimens were collected from the research area and 363 genera and 767 taxa belonging to 81 families were determined. Of all the collected taxa, 66 are endemic and endemism rate is %8.60. The IUCN threat categories of endemic and rare plants at global level are as follows: 1 taxon in “CR” category, as well as 4 taxa “EN”, 4 taxa “VU”, 9 taxa “NT”, and 45 taxa “LC”. Also, 3 rare taxa are found in the “VU” category, as well as 1 rare taxon in the “DD” category at regional level. 56 taxa are new records for the province of Bolu. The largest families in the study area are as follows: Asteraceae 97 taxa (%12.65), Fabaceae 62 taxa (%8.08), Lamiaceae 51 taxa (%6.65), Rosaceae 44 taxa (%5.74), Poaceae 37 taxa (%4.82), Brassicaceae 35 taxa (%4.56), Caryophyllaceae 32 taxa (%4.17), Apiaceae 28 taxa (%3.65), Boraginaceae 27 taxa (%3.52) and Orchidaceae 24 taxa (%3.13). The distribution of taxa into phytogeographic regions are as follows: 234 taxa (%30.50) Euro-Siberian, 64 taxa (%8.34) Mediterranean, 46 taxa (%5.99) Irano-Turanian, and 423 taxa (%55.15) multiregional and/or unknown. -
