COURT OF HONOR ATTIRE REQUIREMENTS A WHITE, FULL-LENGTH BALL GOWN WITH MODEST NECKLINE These guidelines are designed with modesty and safety in mind. When purchasing your gown, please remember that you will be walking up several steps onto a platform and curtseying during the event. All gowns must be approved at or before the Salute Rehearsal on April 5th. If you have any concerns or questions about a particular gown, please contact the Court of Honor Chair prior to purchasing the gown (see contact information below.) LENGTH: • A FULL-length, white, formal, ball gown (no tea length or trains) • Full skirts – must flare out at the waist (NO sheath, NO formfitting, NO drop-waist, NO mermaid/trumpet style) • Neckline should be very modest (ANY dress with even a slight sweetheart cut must be pre-approved with a photo of the young lady wearing the dress.) • An open back should go no lower than bra-strap level. SLEEVES: • Choose from long, three-quarter, short, cap sleeve or sleeveless dresses • NO strapless, off-shoulder, backless, halter or spaghetti straps – straps must be at least 2” wide and made of white material. COLOR: • WHITE – NO cream color • NO color can be on the dress (includes silver) – not even in the form of stitching, sequins, rhinestones or flowers. Clear beads, white beads and white pearls are acceptable. Colors other than true white appear quite differently under the lights and on the video. SHOES: • Shoes must be formal, dress, white or silver shoes & must have a back/strap. Open toe is acceptable. • NO backless pumps, flip-flop style, tennis shoes & no canvas shoes of any kind. • If your daughter chooses not to wear heels, we suggest white “ballerina” type shoes for her comfort. • Shoes are to be worn the entire evening so consider comfort when selecting shoes. GLOVES: • White gloves are required and should be: o Wrist-length with long-sleeve gowns o Elbow-length with short-sleeve/sleeveless gowns • No fingerless gloves JEWELRY: • Jewelry should be modest. Please keep jewelry simple and understated with no accent color. Pearls, diamonds/clear rhinestones are permitted.
