Investec Oaks THURSDAY, JUNE 2, 2011 For information about TDN, call 732-747-8060. LATE DECISION ON CARLTON HOUSE INVESTEC OAKS Connections of Carlton House (Street Cry {Ire}) 3 June 2011 yesterday stated that a final decision on the colt=s participation in Saturday=s G1 Investec Derby could LUCKY 13 IN THE OAKS wait until Friday. With no signs that the filling in the Godolphin=s G1 1000 Guineas winner Blue Bunting near-fore fetlock joint is (Dynaformer) heads the baker=s dozen remaining in representative of tomorrow=s G1 Investec Oaks at Epsom, and anything sinister, Sir connections are expecting a bold show as she bids to Michael Stoute is emulate the operation=s 2002 Guineas and Oaks heroine continuing training the Kazzia (Ger) (Zinaad {GB}). AWe=ve got to be very G2 Dante S. winner hopeful--she hasn=t done a great deal as she was very towards Epsom. The fit for Newmarket, but her work has been very nice Queen=s Racing Manager indeed and she seems on good John Warren said terms with herself,@ Racing yesterday, AWe=ve got Manager Simon Crisford the next few days to see if it is cooling itself explained. AWe=d been really Carlton House & rider Johnny Nolan pleased with her in the down--that=s going to be yesterday in Newmarket build-up to the Guineas and it key. The good thing is Racing Post photo looked wide-open, so we took the horse is sound and a chance, as it=s always been a he=s moving well. He=s on trotting exercise, but, of great Oaks trial. She was course, Sir Michael Stoute would love to be getting doing all her best work at the some good cantering into him at this point. Luckily, finish and was impressive.@ we=ve got the most experienced trainer in the country Trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni and the best rider in the country. We=ve got a chance. added yesterday, ABlue Bunting It=s not without a possibility that he=ll stand in the Frankie Dettori catching air is doing very well and she has line-up. He won=t run unless the trainer is completely after 1000 Guineas content that he s sound. By Friday, we ll know more. Newmarket photo improved since her victory at = = @ Newmarket. The most Derby news cont. p3 surprising thing about her winning the 1000 Guineas was that she coped so well with the ground. Her two wins last season came on a softer surface, and we were a little concerned about how she would run on faster going, but Blue Bunting showed that she is a classy and versatile filly. We have always regarded her as a nice filly. She made most of the running twice as a juvenile, and it=s hard to do that, especially over a straight mile at Newmarket. We decided to try and shield her in the 1000 Guineas and let her finish the race to try and get placed. They went a good pace and the strong wind made it very difficult for the horses at the front, which also played to her stamina. I think that the best thing to do on Friday will be to drop her in at first. It takes her a long time to get going in her races-- we saw that at Newmarket, when she was outpaced at the start, but started to get going in the second half of the race. The course is a bit of an unknown, but she is a well-balanced filly, and I am hopeful that she can cope with the track. It won=t be easy to win, but she is a classy filly and has already won a Classic. She has the best jockey riding her and we have every chance of winning another big race.@ Cont. p2-3 P TDN HEADLINE NEWS • 6/2/11 • PAGE 2 of 6 • thoroughbreddailynews.com Friday, Epsom, Britain INVESTEC OAKS-G1, ,325,000, 3yo, f, 12f 10ydsT SC PP HORSE SIRE 1 3 Beatrice Aurore (Ire) Danehill Dancer (Ire) O-Benny Andersson; B-Chess Racing AB; T-John Dunlop; J-Ted Durcan.
