Bibliografija Delavskega Socialističnega Tiska Na Slovenskem Od 1868 Do 11 Jože Munda Bibliografija delavskega socialističnega tiska na Slovenskem od 1868 do 11. aprila 1920 Pričujoči seznam kaže delavski tisk socialnodemokratskega razdobja na Slovenskem od leta 1868 do 11. aprila 1920, to je od prvega pojava — po do­ sedanjih podatkih — tiskane besede slovenskega delavstva do ustanovnega kongresa komunistične stranke v Sloveniji leta 1920. Zabeležen je tisk raz­ redno aH marksistično orientiranih socialistov in socialnodemokratske stranke. Seznam upošteva tiske, ki imajo več kot dve strani besedila, torej poleg knjig, brošur, časnikov in časopisov tudi pravilnike, poročila in izkaznice (če imajo zraven pravila). Izpušča pa leposlovje ter letake, lepake, vabila in drug droben tisk izpod treh strani obsega. Prav tako ne upošteva tiska slovenskih izseljencev v Ameriki in slovenskega tiska v. Sovjetski Rusiji leta 1918—1920. Vse to še čaka obdelave. Bibliografski popis knjige ali brošure ima v prvem delu splošne podatke: aivtorja, naslov, podnaslov, morebitnega prevajalca, kraj, letnico, založnika, izdajatelja, tiskarja, število strani in format. Z okroglimi oklepaji so ozna­ čeni podatki, ki niso natisnjeni na naslovni strani publikacije. Okrogli okle­ paji z dvopičjem pomenijo, da so okrogli oklepaji na naslovni strani originala. Oglati oklepaji označujejo podatke, ki jih je dodal sestavljalec. V drugem delu pove zbirko, v kateri je delo izšlo, in vsebino, če prinaša več sestavkov. V bibliografski opombi pa je naveden čas izida (posnet večinoma po vesteh v časopisju, deloma pa po »cenzurnih«, izvodih kranjskega deželnega pred­ sedstva, ki jih sedaj hrani Knjižnica Narodnega muzeja v Ljubljani), litera­ tura in hranilišče (s signaturo, če je). Pri časnikih in časopisih so v prvem delu osnovni podatki za identifikacijo lista (naslov, kraj izhajanja, prvi in zadnji letnik ter letnica, začetni in končni datum z zadnjo številko). V drugem delu slede podrobnejši podatki: sprememba naslova, podnaslov, kraj izhaja­ nja, lastnik, izdajatelj, odgovorni in dejanski urednik, tiskar, format in način izhajanja. V bibliografski opombi sta poleg morebitnih opozoril še zgodovin­ ska in bibliografska literatura ter hranilišče. Formati označujejo naslednje velikosti: 16° do 15 cm, M. 8° do 18,5 cm, 8° do 22,5 cm, V. 8° do 25 cm, 4° do 35 cm, 2° do 45 cm in V. 2° nad 45 cm. Žal pri vseh tiskih popis nima gornje oblike. Včasih publikacija sama ne nudi vseh podatkov, drugod pa jih tudi ni uspelo najti. Še več je primerov, da tiska nisem dobil v roke in ga nisem mogel popisati po avtopsiji. Zatekal sem se k navedbam in dognanjem drugih, največkrat k bibliografiji Cvetka Kristana iz leta 192?. Za vrsto nasvetov in podatkov, predvsem o dejanskih urednikih listov, sem dolžan zahvalo dr. Dušanu Kermavnerju. V naslednjem 1 navajam nekaj širših virov in splošnejše literature, iz katere sem v glavnem črpal, posebno če nisem imel tiska v roki. Tekoča letna slovenska bibliografija 1868—1906 v Letopisu Matice sloven­ ske 1869—1898 in Zborniku 1899—1907, ki sojo sestavljali Etbin Henrik Costa, Ivan Tomšič, Rajko Perušek, Karel Glaser in Janko Šlebinger. -f- (= Rok Drofenik), Kakov list je bil »Ljudski glas«? Razvrstitev tiska je kronološka in ne abecedna. Za pomoč so dodana ka­ zala. Pri vsakem letu so najprej navedeni listi, ki se nadaljujejo iz prejšnjih let. Slede publikacije, katerim nisem mogel dognati meseca izida, nato pa vsi drugi tiski v časovnem redu. Pri hraniliščih sem dal prednost Narodni in uni­ verzitetni knjižnici v Ljubljani (NUK). Česar nisem našel v njej, sem iskal po drugih ljubljanskih knjižnicah. Poizvedbe po študijskih knjižnicah izven Ljubljane so bile skoraj brez uspeha. Nekaj tiskov sta mi prijazno dala na vpogled Cvetko Kristan in Martin Likar. Šele med tiskom sem preko opozoril dr. Kermavnerja, Barbke Lukmanove in Branka Reispa našel še 14 del. Ker ni bilo več mogoče, da bi vso bibliografijo preštevilčil, sem si pomagal z" do­ datnimi številkami. Pri delih, ki so brez hranilišča, še ni rečeno, da so izgubljena. Nasprotno! Prepričan sem, da se bo slej ko prej našlo vse, kar je navedeno v tej biblio­ grafiji in celo kaj več. Marsikaj verjetno hranijo tuje knjižnice (Dunaj, Trst idr.), nekaj utegnejo še izbrskati marljivi raziskovalci iz arhivov, ta ali oni drobec bo morda prišel iz privatnih rok.     THE NEW “OLD COUNTRY” THE KINGDOM OF YUGOSLAVIA AND THE CREATION OF A YUGOSLAV DIASPORA 1914-1951 BY ETHAN LARSON DISSERTATION Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in History in the Graduate College of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 2020 Urbana, Illinois Doctoral Committee: Professor Maria Todorova, Chair Professor Peter Fritzsche Professor Diane Koenker Professor Ulf Brunnbauer, University of Regensburg ABSTRACT This dissertation reviews the Kingdom of Yugoslavia’s attempt to instill “Yugoslav” national consciousness in its overseas population of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes, as well as resistance to that same project, collectively referred to as a “Yugoslav diaspora.” Diaspora is treated as constructed phenomenon based on a transnational network between individuals and organizations, both emigrant and otherwise. In examining Yugoslav overseas nation-building, this dissertation is interested in the mechanics of diasporic networks—what catalyzes their formation, what are the roles of international organizations, and how are they influenced by the political context in the host country. The life of Louis Adamic, who was a central figure within this emerging network, provides a framework for this monograph, which begins with his arrival in the United States in 1914 and ends with his death in 1951. Each chapter spans roughly five to ten years. Chapter One (1914-1924) deals with the initial encounter between Yugoslav diplomats and emigrants. Chapter Two (1924-1929) covers the beginnings of Yugoslav overseas nation-building. Chapter Three (1929-1934) covers Yugoslavia’s shift into a royal dictatorship and the corresponding effect on its emigration policy.

    Review of Croatian History 6/2010, no.1, 115 - 132 UDK: 327(497.5:497.4)''1848/1914'' Izvorni znanstveni članak Received: September 17, 2010 Accepted: October 27, 2010 CROATIAN-SLOVENIAN RELATIONS IN POLITICS, 1848-1914: EXAMPLES OF MUTUAL TIES Stjepan MATKOVIĆ* The events of 1848 showed that the Croats and Slovenes had individual national identities and fully-formed views on the integration of their own ethnic territories. At the same time, both peoples, each in their own way, aspired to come closer in order to protect themselves from the looming hegemonic forces within the ethnically diverse Habsburg Monarchy and outside of it. Although the Slovenian political movement, with its platform of Unified Slovenia, did not stand out in 1848 in the eyes of Croatian politicians, already then it showed that there were circumstances that pointed to the idea of reciprocity. Despite the emphasis placed on specific forms of national identity, events which demonstrated that Croats and Slovenes were too weak to secure individual independence stressed the need for ties. So the author attempted to present an account of Croatian- Slovenian relations from 1848 to 1914. He took into consideration relations between groups and individuals who could be considered as a kind of national leaders, as well as relations between other groups and individuals in Croatian and Slovenian territories during the same period of time (e. g., Croatian-Slovenian relations in Istria). In European history, the year 1848 is designated as a watershed in the formation of modern national communities and civil society. Revolutionary trends opened the floodgates for national movements in many countries in the Old Continent.

Its goal is two-part. On one side it tries to postulate historiographicly neglected subject of the historical development of the mentioned political party, and on the other side, it investigates the ideological preferences of the Party and of social democrats whose identity is articulated through this preferences. The dominant historical sources used are the newspapers published by the social democrats. Both the main tendencies of the Party's historical activity and its ideology are extrapolated from the newspaper publications that are critically analysed using historiographical and linguistic methods. The thesis concludes that the Socialdemocratic party of Croatia and Slavonia was an important organisation in the political life of this period of history and that it was usually unrightfully neglected in historiography.

Dressed in Slovenian national costume and sitting under a majestic tree at the idyllic Slovenian Alpine Lake Bled, Mother Slovenia is surrounded by Slovenian children and farmers, and by a few leading representatives of Slovenian culture: the poets Bishop Anton Martin Slomšek, Anton Aškerc, Simon Gregorčič at left and Dr. France Prešeren at far right; and, in the middle, by writers Ivan Cankar and Ivan Tavčar and the painter Ivan Grohar.     Slovene National Identity as a Part of Yugoslav Identity or as its Contradiction? TERÉZIA PODHAJSKÁ COMENIUS UNIVERSITY Introduction One of the most characteristic features of human beings is the search for identity 1, which defines them on many levels, mainly on the personal, social, cultural, and national level. In the era of today’s social and political transformation within the heterogeneity and comp- lexity of Central Europe, the intensity of the search for ‘national identity’ arises. This con- cept plays an essential part in the development of one’s ‘identity’ and subsequently the idea of every nation’s self-determination and national history. National identity represents one of the strongest collective identifications in contemporary society. However, this phe- nomenon is a complex concept, which is not easy to define (and analyse) at once. Social categories and collective identities which have been used for self-definition in the past are gradually replaced by other categories that have different meanings now. 2 Scholars who deal with the matter of nation and identity from the perspective of sociology, anthropology and history consider the use of these terms as quite problematic and ambiguous, because the core problem of the concept of national identity is in the definition of its constituent terms themselves. Therefore, there is not a single explicit or general definition of these pheno- mena, which have been used in different approaches and discourses throughout history. Thus, in the first place it is needed to discuss the concepts of nation and identity, which will create a conceptual base for the subsequent discussion on the development of Slovene na- tional identity and self-determination during the interwar era.
