It is the collaboration of the three acclaimed artists- David Doiashvili (director), Nikoloz Rachveli ( conductor of the National Orchestra) and Nato Metonidze ( the most successful female singer in Georgia). “Introspection –the Story about us” – is a short history of Georgia from Soviet epoch and till today. The project consist of the most popular songs of different times written by most popular Georgian composers. Also a group of 5 female actors are on the stage telling the story about our country. “Introspection – the Story about us” has already Oilled Tbilisi Concert Hall (2000 seats) 12 times. Nato Metonidze Soloist (born on July 2, 1972) Graduated from the Tbilisi Sulkhan Saba Orbeliani Pedagogical Institute (faculty of Music- Philology). Began singing in childhood, ﬁrst as a member of vocal-instrumental ensemble "Mziuri", later vocal trio "Natali" and jazz quarter "3+1". During 2002-2004 Nato collaborated with the company "art imedi" as a solo singer. She is the winner of Moscow International Music Festival "Step to the Parnas" (l prize, 1994); Vitebsk International Music Festival "Slovenian Bazar" (lll prize and laureate, 2001). The most important for her career was the progect of Giya Kancheli's music for ﬁlm and cinema which was newly orchestrated by Nikoloz Rachveli, director - David Doiashvili. Nowadays Nato Metonidze continues her solo career successfully. She is the most popular female singer in Georgia David Doiashvili Director (born on October 7, 1971) In 1994 he graduated from Shota Rustaveli Theatre Institute, specializing in drama . (Workshop of Mikheil Tumanishvili) Besides the theatre career, David Doiashvili has worked as a lecturer of acting at Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Cinema Tbilisi State University. In 1998-2001 was the chief director of Kote Marjanishvili Drama Theatre. Amongst the successful projects accomplished by him, the most remarkable were: William Shakespeare - “ King Lear”, Oscar Wilde - “Salome”, Anatoli Chekhov - “ Three Sisters”, William Shakespeare –“Macbeth” and so on. David Doiashvili has staged many performances throughout the world: West Yorkshire Playhouse (London) - Arthur Miller “ The Crucible”Mariinsky Theatre (Saint Petersburg) – Gaetano Donizetti “Lucia Di Lammermoor”Croatian National Theatre (Rijeka) – Riunoske Akutagava “Life of the idiot”, William Shakespeare “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and so on. Since 2004, David Doiashvili has been managing and artistic director at Vaso Abashidze Music and Drama State Theatre. His most successful and creative career is associated with this very theatre. Many performances staged by him in this theatre became the subject of total interest and gained popularity of the audience, critics and producers. The performance (William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth”) staged by him won nine out twelve nominations at Rijeka International Theatre Festival of Croatia. His other performances got the same success at various prestigious theatre festivals in many different countries throughout the world. David Doiashvili’s most popular plays are: - “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by William Shakespeare , “Cyrano de Bergerac” by Edmond Rostand, “ The State of Siege” by Albert Camus, “The House on the Border” by Slawomir Mrozek, “Separation” by Giorgi Eristavi and so on. Apart from theatrical career, David Doiashvili aims to integrate Georgian Theatre with European Theatres. David Doiashvili has been awarded many prizes for his creative career in Georgia as well as outside its borders. David Doiashvili was awarded with Medal of Honor and Medal of Excellence. Also, he has received Shota Rustaveli, Kote Marjanishvili and Sandro Axmeteli Awards. He is the grand prize winner of many international theatre festivals. Nikoloz Rachveli Music Director (born on May 15, 1979) Alike leading musicians of baroque period, unites professions of a composer, a conductor and a solo performer (piano) and often his concerts are distinguished by this impressive touch. At the age of 11 he became an author of several piano and orchestra pieces (teachers: Lili Gabunia and Mikheil Shughliashvili) and a legendary maestro of Georgian State Symphonyth Orchestra - Jansug Kakhidze has invited a little musician at the conductor’s stand, where a wunderkind has successfully led Beethoven’s 5 symphony and then Grieg’s , Rossini’s and Lagidze’s famous orchestral creations. This was followed by a long touring in Germany (invited by Hermann Wedekind), where Nikoloz at the age of 13 has became a virtuoso of organ. At the end of academic concerts an audience was amazed by ad-lib improvisations of preludes and free form polyphonic fugues played for encore. In 1995 Nikoloz was included in UNESCO publication - “New Names of the Planet”. His first year at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire was resumed by an extraordinary and sensational performance - "Dramma Per Musica" (stage director - David Sakvarelidze) on the stage of Tbilisi Conservatoire Grand Hall. This performancest presented a melodious material of the first oldest opera by Giacomo Perry - “Euridice”, which was given an exceptional orchestration by the 1 year student - Nikoloz Rachveli. He has added acoustic sounds and created a post modern version of the oldest opera. The success encouraged a young musician to continue education in Vienna Music University, where he met such outstanding musicians as Pierre Boulez, Luciano Berio, György Ligeti, Michael Jarrell and many others. During his studies in Vienna Nikoloz Rachveli has frequently visited his native city as a composer for David Doiashvili’s stage productions, fashion show of Maka Assathiany, Giorgi Shengelaia’s and Kakha Melitauri’s films; as well as a first time performer of the most impressive opuses of Stockhausen, Crumb, Cage, Gubaidulina, Schnittke, etc. in Georgia. After “Rose Revolution” in Georgia, by an initiative of PM Zurab Zhvania, a young composer was called back to Georgia from Vienna and was appointed on a position of Music Director of the State Music and Drama Theatre, where he has staged Rossini‘s -“La Cambiale di Matrimonio” and Albert Camus “L’État de siège“, with accompaniment of chorales of J.S. Bach and original music. In 2005 the Georgian Government has established National Music Center of Georgia, where The State Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra and State Choir have been united and Nikoloz Rachveli has been appointed as its Music Director. By the initiative of Nikoloz Rachveli the music collectives, united in the Music Center have welcomed soon the State String Quartet, which was performing in Germany for years. After one year of active work the Government was assured to grant a historical building of Concert Hall on the Aghmashenebeli Avenue to the Music Center. He has founded Contemporary Music Festival KONTRAPUNKT, an original concept of which is a meeting of a Georgian and foreign composer’s pieces of various genres (Alfred Schnittke/Sulkhan Nasidze, Arvo Part/Nodar Mamisashvili, Franghiz Alizadeh/Natela Svanidze, Gyorgy Ligeti/Mikheil Shugliashvili, Tigran Mansurian/Vazha Azarashvili) ; as well as the Festival “Quartet Welcomes“ and “Tbilisi Choral Music Festival“; he has recovered Symphony Concert Seasons, implying weekly concerts, the tradition of which was frozen in previous years. Nikoloz Rachveli has founded Evgeni Mikeladze Medal, which has been given for outstanding merits and contribution to music to Giya Kancheli, Aleksander Toradze, Liana Isakadze, Vakhtang Matchavariani, Givi Munjishvili and Joseb Bardanashvili. An exclusive place in the creative life of Nikoloz Rachveli belongs to Giya Kancheli and his works. The young conductor is the first performer of Kancheli’s pieces together with Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra and State Choir in Georgia. Among the mis the Vocal-Instrumental piece DIXI, devoted to Jansug Kakhidze, the world premiere of which was performed by Bayerischer Rundfunk at its anniversary concert with Mariss Jansons as a conductor ; In 2002- 2003 Nikoloz Rachveli has collected Giya Kancheli’s music for films and theatre and created new vocal-instrumental versions for the outstanding Georgian singer - Nato Metonidze. The performance named “Everyone has something to remember“ was staged at the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre (Stage Director - David Doiashvili), issued as CD and DVD and has made a revolution in the Georgian popular music and concert-staging development. Kancheli’s vocal-instrumental piece “Little Imber“, conducted by Nikoloz rachveli, was recorded in UK and published by famous ECM records ; Also, cooperation of a young composer with the music publishing house - Sikorsi is communicated with Giya Kancheli’s name. The new orchestration by Nikoloz Rachveli of Kancheli’s “Amao Omi“ (under new name “Ilori“) was published by Sikorski and the world premire of Ilori was successfully performed by Bazel and Studtgart philharmonics and Ruscher Saxophone Quartet under direction of Dennis Russel Devis. By the invitation of Giya Kancheli and Gidon Kremer, Nikoloz Rachveli has collaborated with Kremerata Baltika at Kronberg Festival.
