FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE AUGUST 18, 2015 FORMER WORLD NO. 8 JANKO TIPSAREVIC WITHDRAWS FROM ODLUM BROWN VANOPEN DUE TO INJURY Vancouver, BC – Former World No. 8 Janko Tipsarevic has withdrawn from the 2015 Odlum Brown VanOpen due to an injury. "Unfortunately I've been battling some nagging injuries for a while now and after practicing here in Vancouver, I just can't go into competition without risk of doing further damage. I certainly wish the best to the tournament and thank the fans for their support," said Tipsarevic. "I'm disappointed that I'm unable to play in this incredible Challenger event. I was definitely looking forward to playing here and getting in some great matches." Despite the fact that Tipsarevic won't be on the courts playing at the Hollyburn Country Club, he will be available for an exclusive autograph signing in the Vendor Village on the tournament grounds from 5:15 to 6:15 pm on Tuesday, August 18, just prior to the evening feature match between former World No. 10 Ernests Gulbis and Illya Marchenko of Ukraine on Centre Court. Tipsarevic will also take part in the official Odlum Brown VanOpen opening ceremonies at 6:30 pm and fans will have a chance to win autographed tennis balls during the evening match. "It is unfortunate that Janko is unable to compete here. He is a great player, and his resume more than speaks for itself. We will miss him, but fully support and understand his decision, and wish him a very speedy recovery," said Tournament Chairman Floyd Hill. http://www.vanopen.com https://twitter.com/VanOpen Odlum Brown VanOpen on Facebook https://twitter.com/USTAProCircuit 2015 marks the 14th year of the $200,000 Odlum Brown VanOpen Presented By Miele and Trail Appliances, a dual sanctioned USTA Pro Circuit and Tennis Canada event.
