Westfield Presents AddamsFest October 26-28

A 3 town-wide in Westfield NJ just in time for Halloween!

The full schedule for AddamsFest has been announced and it's packed with events for people of all ages. The celebration will honor Westfield native Charles Addams and his most famous creation, "," throughout October all around town, with a slew of events planned for the Friday and weekend just before Halloween.

There will be a house-decorating contest, Wicked Windows of Westfield, a High School cartoon contest, a Charles Addams Art Exhibit at the James Ward Mansion, a Morticia & Gomez , a -carving demonstration by the Maniac Pumpkin Cavers, paranormal investigations at the historic Reeve House, screenings of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and "The Addams Family" movies at The Rialto, Charlie's Ale Garden, a family fun zone, a parade, a trunk or treat, and much more!!

Halloween Festivities October 28, 1:30-4pm

New Location: South Avenue Train Station Parking Lot

Trunk or Treat, Halloween Parade & Contest in Downtown Westfield are now part of AddamsFest and will take place at a new location -- the South Avenue Train Station Parking Lot on Sunday, October 28, 1:30-4pm. In prior years, families came to downtown Westfield shops to trick or treat, culminating in a costume contest and parade on Quimby St. This year marks a major change to these events as they become an exciting part of AddamsFest!

Optimist Club's Annual Halloween Parade - 1:30 music begins, 2pm parade The festivities begin with the Optimist Club's traditional Halloween Parade accompanied by music from the WHS marching band at the South side train station parking lot. The parade is a great way for kids to show off their .

Downtown Westfield Corporation's Costume Contest - 2-2:45pm The Downtown Westfield Corporation will be giving out prizes for children's costumes as they have every year. except it will take place this year at the South Ave. train station lot. Sponsored by downtown businesses, prizes will be awarded in multiple categories.

Trunk or Treat - 2:30-4pm It wouldn't be Halloween without , and this year promises to be sweeter than ever with Westfield's first ever Trunk-or-Treat! With this new event, in lieu of Downtown Trick or Treating, kids will trick or treat from the trunks of decorated cars at the South Ave. train station lot. This event brings together everything your kids love about Halloween - whimsical and spooky decorations, candy, music, prizes and much more! Join your friends and neighbors for what is sure to become a new Halloween tradition.

Art Walk in Downtown Westfield October 14, 12-4pm

Come to Westfield's first annual Art Walk in Downtown Westfield, NJ, Sunday, October 14 from 12 - 4 pm.

Visit galleries and businesses to browse, shop and celebrate all of the arts, including paintings, books, photography, decorative home design items, furniture, hand-crafted jewelry, artistic accessories, cranberry themed items at participating eateries, music & more.

The talents of noted artists Harry and his wife Wende Devlin will be celebrated at this event. Among their impressive bodies of work, Harry was the illustrator and Wende was the author of 28 children's books, including the well known Cranberry series, which feature illustrations and references of Westfield. In addition, Harry Devlin illustrated many Westfield landmarks and streetscapes, including the Miller Cory House, the North Side Train Station, E. Broad St., and The Presbyterian . Some of his drawings are hanging in the Westfield Library, Reeve House, and the Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce.

Road Work Update

Parking Lot #7 (across from Post Office): Work on the improvement of this lot continues to progress, as the drainage infrastructure and curbing has been completed. New light pole foundations and conduit have been installed, and awaits installation/activation by PSE&G. The installation of concrete islands and sidewalks continues. Pavement preparations will begin shortly, and it is expected that final paving/striping will occur the week of October 8.

North Avenue (East Broad Street to Townline): The County has completed the repaving of North Avenue in Westfield..
