The average for the entire sale settled at a mark of 228,078gns, up 3%, although the median took a dip to 130,000gns, down 13%. Nine horses made a million guineas or more, three more than the previous best for the event. The leading buyer was John Ferguson of Sheikh Mohammed’s organisation and, given Ferguson’s passion for all things Dubawi over the week, it was no surprise that Darley’s top stallion was also leading sire at the sale. His 15 yearlings sold for a remarkable average of 972,667gns, heading the average of 16 for 610,313gns.
