JULIE HARRINGTON APPOINTED BHA CHIEF EXECUTIVE Julie Harrington will take over the role of Chief Executive at the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) from 4th January 2021, replacing the out-going Chief Executive Nick Rust. Harrington is a former member of the BHA Board and was a senior executive with Northern Racing for eight years, including spending time as Managing Director at Uttoxeter. She has been Chief Executive of British Cycling for the last four years and has also spent time working for the Football Association, Whitbread Inns and British Airways. Mill Ridge Farm has announced the appointment of Price Bell as its General Manager. Harrington commented: “I’m so excited to be coming home to racing and playing my part helping this great sport to achieve a prosperity from which everyone benefits. “We prep them up to a stage here and then send them to Gerry [Ross] five or six weeks before the sale”, he explains. “With the delays this year of course, I’ve prepped them three times now and taken them down to Gerry three times as well, a three-hour journey each way each time!” O’Loughlin is realistic about the difficulties facing this week’s sale, but, like everyone involved, he is thankful that it has finally got the go-ahead to take place. “There will be a bit of value around for people buying horses and it’s going to be tough for sellers, but I’d say the good horses will still sell well, it will be the middle market that will take a bit of a hit.
