Frostbite Series Pursuit Race Instructions Nottinghamshire County Sailing Club Frostbite Series Pursuit Race Instructions Course Use a long course over the whole of the lake so that the leading boats do not lap the slower boats. Time The start time will be displayed on the noticeboard but will not be before 13.15. Junior boats (Mirror, Topper, Laser Pico, RS Feva) are expected to use the Junior start, but if they take part in the Pursuit race they start at time zero, with the Laser 4.7. Lower flag when recalled boats have returned and re-crossed the start line, or after 30 seconds. General recall If too many are over the line to identify them, general recall flag up with two sound signals. If any fleet is recalled, it starts 1 minute after its original start time. Finish Duration : Windsurfers and Juniors 40-45 minutes Pursuit race 75 minutes Windsurfer and Junior Races After 40 to 45 minutes, either open the finish line by raising the S flag and Windsurfer / Junior flags on the committee boat with two sound signals. Every boat which crosses the finish line is a finisher. Give each finishing boat a short hoot on the horn. or finish the first boat between a mark and a safety boat displaying the S flag and the Windsurfer/ Junior fleet flags. Record the number of laps and the finishing time of each boat. Pursuit Anticipate where the leading boat will be at 75 minutes. Position a Safety boat displaying the blue flag at that point. At 75 minutes exactly, sound one long hoot on the horn. Boats should not change positions after this signal. The finish line is a moving line. The safety boat should then go from the lead boat back through the fleet as fast as it is possible to record the finishing order until the last boat has been reached. The order of the Oakleaf and Frostbite races will be reversed on the final Sunday of the series i.e. the pursuit race first followed by the handicap race, and both races will be held back to back. The RYA actively encourages clubs to adjust handicaps where classes are either under or over performing compared to the number being used. The Portsmouth Yardstick list combines the Portsmouth numbers with class configuration and the total number of races returned to the RYA in the annual return. This additional data has been provided to help clubs achieve the stated aims of the Portsmouth Yardstick system and make adjustments to Portsmouth Numbers where necessary. Clubs using the PN list should be aware that the list is based on the average performance of each boat across a variety of clubs and locations. The numbers in the PN list may not reflect the peak performance of each boat. Historical numbers are listed below and have been collated from the RYA's archive of PN lists. It should be remembered that the Portsmouth Yardstick number list has been through a number of changes and the numbers listed below have had conversion factors applied where needed. It should also be remembered that whilst all efforts are taken for PN's not to drift, relative performance of older boats may be quite different to modern classes. The numbers are given as a starting point to help clubs arrive at a fair number and if these numbers are used then they should be reviewed regularly. Users of the PY scheme are reminded that all Portsmouth Numbers published by the RYA should be regarded as a guide only.

The BOM forecast was for 15knots, hitting up to 20 at sea, so we were all there Secretary for a fresh day. On the Start Boat, we could hear Rick radioing in for wind Jacqueline Heap 0423230840 strengths, & those listening were hoping for no cancellation, as gusts on the Start Line were getting up there. Treasurer Norm Hunt 8 boats were there ready for the action - 3 Spiders, “Ex”, Just a Touch, Aeolian, HH 66291366 Rabbit & new addition Waller 540 “Djinn”. Small run-in tide, hot & sunny, & NNE wind that steadied around 20 with 25k gusts top half of the course, but Class Reps Gennekers – Duncan Dey varied between 12 to 25 gusts for the Club half of the course, & this varying Catamarans – David Bowler caused some grief. Trailers – Graeme Fleming Monos – Maurice Reynaud Rabbit was first to the Top Mark, & saw that it was good, in fact she reely liked it, & in fact became quite attached to it. As other boats approached & also Rowing Officer wanted to round, Rabbit wasn’t finished playing with it & caused some concern as Mel Nixon Kelli Coleman sailors wrestled with the problem of .

Rules Racing shall be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of the RYA, the Class Rules, except as any are altered by these Sailing Instructions (SI), and by supplements to these Sailing Instructions. 2.
