Dubbo Rugby Junior Cricket Club A HUGE THANKS!! Once again, Michael Adams and Golden West Holden have come on board as the major sponsor for Dubbo Rugby Junior Cricket Club. Their ongoing commitment is greatly appreciated and allows us to provide a quality sporting experience with excellent equipment at a fraction of the cost of other sports. So, the next time you are in the market for a new car, please make sure you consider the people who support us! We also have a number of other sponsors who also make valuable financial contributions to our club. Don’t forget to utilise their services whenever possible. OLD What did the fox say? (a.k.a. the President’s Report) Welcome all to this year’s President’s report. Once again, I am proud to say it has been another successful season both on and off the playing fields. The season began in early October with our club nominating seven sides from U9’s through to U14A competitions. The club welcomed on board new coaches in Greg Cant U9’s and Shane Sissian U12B Rugby Blue. To date, the teams have performed competitively and Rugby will be represented in the semi-finals in all grades except the 9’s and 10’s as they don’t run semi-finals. To all the coaches, Greg Cant, Carl Jones, Shane Sissian, Glenn Shepherd, Peter Hennessy, Andrew Rose and yours truly a job well done. These gents give up their time each week at training and game days which is well appreciated. Of course teams cannot operate with an administration. I would like you to thank the following people for making this season exist. Colin Harper – Secretary/Treasurer Donna Ambler – Publicity officer Rugby Junior Committee – All the above coaches Again these people work tirelessly for the club and without them we do not exist. Without sponsor’s we do not exist so please thank the following: Major Sponsor – Golden West Holden. To principal owner Michael Adams we again cannot thank you enough; you have given your hard earned to us for some time now to which we do appreciate. To Andrew and Yvette McDonald – McDonald Commercial Donna and Chris Ambler – The Verb Garden Craig and Tanya McGrath – Central West Gates and Fencing A big thankyou for your continued support, it is very much appreciated. To all the parents who get involved, a big thankyou from my heart. I believe Rugby Juniors are the best club in Dubbo and this does not happen unless we have devoted people in you. Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding! Gering-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding! In saying this, the club cannot survive on the same people putting their hand up each year to form the committee. The club will be actively pursuing new blood for next season, so come on parents let’s get involved for the future of RJCC. In finishing I would like to congratulate all the trophy winners on the day and all the sides best of luck in your competitions. Best Regards Steven Wheeler President - Rugby Junior Cricket Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding! Gering-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding! Rugby U9s Coach: Greg Cant What a wonderfully talented group of young cricketers, but even more importantly a tremendous bunch of great kids who became good mates, encouraging each other both on the cricket field and whilst playing tips between innings. The boys love their cricket with the result not being so important to them. Even though the results were less important than the games after the match, the boys only lost two games all season. To all the boys, thanks for being very well behaved each week, encouraging each other and working so hard on your cricketing skills. I am very proud of all of you and hope to see you back for season 2014 / 2015. Louis Russell – loves his cricket, being one of the team’s most consistent performers. Louis’ top score for the season was 29 with his best bowling figures being 2 for 0. Dugald Shepherd – ‘Mr Cricket’ lives and breathes his cricket. Dugald is one of our fastest bowlers, hits the ball hard and loves to run. He had a brilliant highest score of 56 and best bowling figures of 3 for 4. Angus Rose – worked very hard in the field when he wasn’t sitting down! Angus displayed great experience and always encouraged the lesser experienced players in the team. Angus had a highest score of 24 and best figures of 2 for 6. Coen Austin – worked tirelessly on his bowling throughout the season and this paid off with Coen capturing eight wickets for the season. Coen’s best effort with the bat was 34 and super figures of 3 for 5. Liam Ayre – was a very enthusiastic and consistent performer each week who never complained. He showed a unique ability to bowl both right and left arm. Liam’s best score with the bat was 11 and best bowling figures of 2 for 8. Paddy Cant – he loves his Thursday night cricket as long as he has ‘Wonderbat’! Hitting two sixes against Cyms was the highlight of his season. His best effort with the bat was 36 and best bowling figures 2 for 1. Riley Jensen – our token Kiwi, played just like a Black Cap. Riley displayed a huge amount of enthusiasm towards his cricket. Riley’s best score with the willow was 24 and his best bowling figures of 2 for 12. Harrison Quinn – a very talented cricketer who loves taking wickets (equal top wicket taker). He was unlucky against Cyms to miss out on a hat trick in his first over only to get four in a row in his second. His best effort with the bat was 45 and he had unbelievable figures of 6 - 2. Ned Jones – a quiet achiever who became possibly the teams most improved player. The left armer was equal highest wicket taker. Ned’s best figures were 3 for 11 and highest batting score of 20. Oliver Brown – was a very consistent and enthusiastic player. Oliver loved to do it all and would bowl or bat all day if allowed. Oliver’s highest score with the bat was 35 and best bowling figures of 3 for 2. A huge thank you to fellow coach James Austin for his help and the encouragement he showed towards our players. To Kurt Jensen and Tony Quinn, thanks for helping the boys in our absence. To all the parents, thanks for making each Thursday night a very relaxed and social event. Thanks to the Shepherds for encouraging the sausage sizzle each week and lugging the barbeque in each week. Standing: James Austin (assistant coach), Ned Jones, Riley Jensen, Angus Rose, Louis Russell, Coen Austin, Liam Ayre Sitting: Ollie Brown, Patty Cant, Dugald Shepherd Absent: Harrison Quinn, Greg Cant (Coach) Rugby U10s Coaches: Gary Goodman and Carl Jones 2013-2014 Season we had four new players join our under 10's in Harrison Cowen, Harrison Austin, Seaun Stanley and Zac Warren. The boys all fitting in nicely with the great mix of returning players from last year’s under 9's. Again under the Coaching team of Gary Goodman and Carl Jones the team enjoyed their cricket and improved their skills during the year. We would like to thank all the parents for coming along and showing your support each week. Special thanks to Gordon Cowen, Luke Cameron & Rob Atkins for cooking the BBQ each week which kept the team fed. We hope the children have enjoyed their season with us and we wish them all the best for next year when they step up to under 12’s. Back Row: Harrison Cowen, Seaun Stanley, Zac Warren, Georgia Goodman, Charlotte Harper, Gary Goodman (Coach) Front Row: Alex Jones, Joshua Beal, Jack Atkins, Brock Cameron, Harrison Cowen Absent: Patrick Condon, Carl Jones (Coach) Rugby White U12Bs Coach: Glenn Shepherd Another great year was had by the mysteriously renamed Rugby White 12Bs. We welcomed Joe Cant, Connor Mathieson and Eli Hausia into the team and they all fitted in straight away. The boys all played with a lot of enthusiasm and, most importantly, with great sportsmanship throughout the season. It was fantastic to watch all them all improve their skills and it was no coincidence that the boys who turned up the most often at training were the ones who made the biggest improvements. We went very close to getting below our goal of 30 wides and no balls in an innings on a couple of occasions. We managed to notch up 3 wins for the season, including one huge 43 run win. It was a game where the boys put their best bowling, batting and fielding effort into the one game and showed how well they can really play! Because we have a lot of boys who are a few weight divisions below our opponents, it has been hard to get the ball through the field to score runs. But by improving their running between the wickets skills, the boys have learnt to sneak a few extra runs! Our straight bowling was right up there with the best in the comp too. I’d like to thank all the mums and dads and other rellos who have helped get the boys to training and the games each Saturday. You can all be proud of the boys’ efforts, and their manners and attitude are a credit to you all. I appreciate the opportunity to coach them and if they’ve had half as much fun as I have this year, they should have enjoyed themselves! A special thanks to Greg Cant and Grant Clissold for scoring, and to them and Darren Maxwell and Stu Harland for some square leg umpiring.
