It is considered unlikely that the activities carried out under this project will have major adverse environmental and/or social risks and/or impacts. However, there is a possibility that some activities might involve minor or moderate environmental or social risks given the sensitivity of the receiving environment, the complex demographic and social context and the vulnerability of social groups, including indigenous groups as well as Dalits as being members of the lowest case and often subject to social exclusion or discrimination. Also, environmental and social risks cannot be fully ascertained at this stage because the exact sites for field interventions have not been identified yet and because the design of the specific interventions will be determined by the specific vulnerability of locations within each cluster. While the project document has established generic types of interventions, the exact nature of the interventions may change once the baseline is more effectively established in year one of the project‟s operation, and as a result of more focused consultations with relevant stakeholders, and in particular with women, indigenous groups, Dalits and disadvantaged groups. The project has therefore been classified as moderate risk project and the development of an Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) is needed. The questionnaire in Annex A has assessed the generic project activities proposed for implementation on potential environmental and social risks and on the applicability of Standards. The results of this assessment are described at the end of each section: Section B covering issues related to the 4 Standards, section C related to other E&S impacts and section D on risk issues related to Climate change. Has a project stakeholder analysis been carried out and documented – identifying not only interests, needs and influence of stakeholders but also whether there are any stakeholders that might be affected by the project? Does the stakeholder analysis disaggregate between women and men, where relevant and feasible? It is recommended to add the stakeholder analysis to the documents submitted at screening stage. To be completed by project proponent During the design phase of the project, a stakeholder analysis was conducted according to four categories: Government, Civil Society, Local communities, the Private Sector and International actors. From these categories, key stakeholders were identified and interviewed during the feasibility study. The results are documented in the feasibility study report. IUCN ESMS Reviewer The feasibility study includes a chapter titled stakeholder analysis, however the different stakeholder groups are presented in a rather general form without elaborating on the stakeholder groups‟ interest, influence and impacts in relation to the actual project. It is recommended undertaking such a focussed analysis during the inception phase for each of the sites identified for field intervention. 2. Has information about the project – and about potential risks or negative impacts – been shared with relevant groups? Have consultations been held with relevant groups to discuss the project concept and risks? Provide details about the groups involved. Have women been consulted (provide details)? The Commission carried out thorough investigation and extensive analysis of the available information and evidences, statements and interviews with concerned persons, study of reports, records and documents etc. The Commission had submitted some interim safety recommendations as immediate remedial measures. The Commission in its final report presented safety recommendations to be implemented by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and Nepal Airlines Corporation respectively.

Lo Monthang still has a King to which the rank of Colonel was given in the Nepalese Army. When departing from Europe allow for an overnight flight to Kathmandu, but on the return it is possible to depart in the morning and arrive on the same day.     Nepal Earthquake District Profile - Rasuwa OSOCC Assessment Cell 10.05.2015 This report is produced by the OSOCC Assessment Cell based on secondary data from multiple sources, including the Government of Nepal, UNDAC, United Nations Agencies, non-governmental organisation and media sources. I. Situation Overview Rasuwa is one of the worst affected districts by the 25 April earthquake. As of 8 May, 430 people have been reported killed and 753 injured (MoFA 08/05/2015). Most of those that died in the district were killed in an avalanche that buried inhabtants of Langtang village including tourists in the guesthouses. Some remote areas are yet to be reached or accounted for. More than 63% of the district’s territory is at an elevation of more than 3000 meters. Of the remaining territory, most parts are located at an elevation between 1000 – 3000 meters (University of Copenhagen 2005) and parts of Rasuwa were without road access even before the earthquake, further challenging the relief effort. In the first few days after the earthquake very little information was available from Rasuwa. Field reports have gradually come in that help understand thesituation. Initial estimates based on Government data of damaged buildings in the affected districts, suggests that 82% of the population of Rasuwa have been affected by the earthquake. According to Government data, 8,000 buildings were destroyed in the earthquake. This figure is however unconfirmed and represents a preliminary estimate based on the combination of reports from a range of sources providing information on needs at the VDC level1(Please see map below for an illustration of aggregated number of reported people in need).

Objective and Specific Aims Objective: - To measure nutritional status, of women (18-44 years) and children under five (6-59 months), of Dalit and Brahmins by taking anthropometric measures in Lamjung district, Western Nepal - To conduct structured surveys and qualitative assessments of how underlying social and behavioral factors, e.g. availability, access and utilization of food, and childcare, influence nutritional status of Dalit and Brahmin women and their children Specific Aims: - To obtain the anthropometric measurements of height, weight and upper arm circumference to determine indicators of nutritional status including underweight, stunting and wasting among children under five; and to determine body mass index (BMI) among their mothers and stepmothers (if living in a same household) - To administer structured surveys to obtain household and socio-demographic information such as number of offspring and co-wives, caste status (Dalits or Brahmins), age of women and children, socio-economic status (SES) and food insecurity information - To conduct in-depth interviews of a subsample of Dalit and Brahmin women to understand how socio-cultural aspects in their lives affect food insecurity B. Background and significance It can be hypothesized that in Nepal, the social status of Dalit women– a collection of the untouchable castes – could contribute to having a lower nutritional status of themselves and their children, compared to maternal and child malnutrition among Brahmin castes (the highest ranked caste) residing in the same villages. This association between social status and malnutrition has been consistently found in developing nations (Gurung, 2010).

Hindu believes that lord Vishnu got salvation from curse of Brinda (wife of Jalandhar) here. Therefore he is worshipped as Muktinath (Lit. the lord of salvation). The holy shrine, which is said to have risen on its own, is one of eight such shrines (the others include Srirangam, Sri Mushnam, Tirupati, Naimisaranyam, Thottadri, Pushkaram and Badrinath). This Pagoda Style Muktinath Temple is also one of 108 Vaishnava shrines. Here in the early 19th century the Hindus consecrated a Vishnu temple and named is Muktinath - Lord of Liberation. There are 108 waterspouts in the back yard of this temple called as Muktidhara where froozen water are continuously flowing from the bull head and two Kunda (ponds in front of the temple).

Introduction Prashant Tamang, the winner of Indian Idol 3, a reality show of Indian television channel, Sony Entertainment Television (SET), got a contract of a music album with Sony BGM Music Entertainment (India) Pvt.Ltd, as a prize and he named it Dhanyavad, a Nepali word for Thanks. It was released in November 2007, and contained 11 songs: three Nepali and eight Hindi songs. It was different from what previous winners did: they came up with their albums containing Hindi songs only. Why was this difference? According to Tamang, who hails from Darjeling, and a member of West Bengal Police, this album was a tribute for Nepali community who were living in India and abroad, and who voted passionately for him while he was participating in the program.1 Since then he had acted in three films in Nepali language as hero, and the first of them, Gorkhapalatan was big hit. It is interesting that Amit Paul, who became second in the program, had sung a song in Hindi movie, Luck By Chance and few others participants are hosting programs in Indian TV channels. All name and limelight Tamang is having is definitely the result of his celebrity figure as an Indian Idol.
