A Radiating Cable sends along its length Each slot builds a small ‚antenna‘ that sends and receives the signals. Radiating Cables provide homogeneous radio coverage in confined areas where walls (in tunnel), corners, rails etc. restrict the free Line Of Sight communication. Product presentation EUCARAY® Olaf Schilperoort Innovation & Tradition Radiating cables vs. Antennas The vehicle blocks the signal of the directional antenna The signal from the Radiating Cable reaches the receiver on the vehicle along its way without obstacle Product presentation EUCARAY® Olaf Schilperoort Innovation & Tradition Radiating cables vs. Antennas In tunnels and around corners, many directional antennas and repeaters are required. Simultaneous P2P and P2C communication is a challenge. One single Radiating Cable can cover the whole corner + reduce the number of repeaters Product presentation EUCARAY® Olaf Schilperoort Innovation & Tradition Radiating cables vs. Antennas • Each antenna needs its own Rx/Tx unit (AP, Repeater, Amplifer…) • High no. Of active devices (power cables, Ethernet cables etc.) • Vice versa: homogeneous coverage requires high density of antennas • Inhomogeneous coverage seen by receiving devices (Smartphones) tend to group around sender • Radiating Cables provide homogeneous coverage along ist whole length Product presentation EUCARAY® Olaf Schilperoort Innovation & Tradition Typical markets for radiating cables Main three markets and applications 1.) Transportation: Road Tunnels, predominantly using the following frequencies: – VHF, including FM for re-broadcasting of FM radio with break-in facility, which allows the tunnel operators to play safety-relevant messages to car drivers using the tunnel. – UHF, including TETRA and TETRAPOL, to send mission-critical communications into the tunnel for the emergency and first responder services. – GSM900 to allow tunnel users to make calls to the roadside assist and emergency services. Railway Tunnels, predominantly using the following frequencies: – UHF, including TETRA and TETRAPOL, for trackside maintenance and mission-critical emergency services. – GSM-R for railway operations communications and train control and communications systems. – DCS, UMTS & LTE for use by passengers in the train. METRO or MRT Tunnels, predominantly using the following frequencies: – VHF, UHF, including TETRA and TETRAPOL, for trackside maintenance and mission- critical emergency services. – DCS, UMTS & LTE for use by passengers in the train. Various Transport Applications; Radiating Cables can be used in various other transportation methods like: – Ski Lifts – Hotel Coaster Rail – City Cable Cars ® Product presentation EUCARAY Olaf Schilperoort Innovation & Tradition Typical markets for radiating cables Main three markets and applications 2.) Industrial Logistics, where mainly frequencies in the WLAN Band are used to provide Wireless Data connectivity to Mobile devices. Production, where frequencies of the WLAN Band are often used under Near-Field Conditions to provide Wireless Data connectivity to moving automated devices. Construction, which usually comprises the use of Radiating Cables to provide temporary voice Radio Communication to Building Sites in the VHF or UHF Frequency Band. Mining, where today nearly the full Radio Communications Spectrum is used to provide all Services from Voice Communications to Data connectivity and the frequencies ranging from the traditional VHF Band for Voice Communications to WLAN to provide Voice over IP and Data Services.
