Testing (“The BSB Testing Policy”) 18.1 Superbike only Between 1 January 2021 and 14 March 2021 testing is prohibited WORLDWIDE for those teams/riders listed on the “2021 Bennetts BSB Official Provisional Entry List” operating as a unit utilising motorcycles conforming to the class technical regulations. For the avoidance of doubt a BSB rider and team using an essentially BSB spec machine even with with an alternative ECU, and team technical support is considered an infringement of this. MSVR will act as the sole arbiter regarding the definition and application of The BSB Testing Policy. Exceptions may be granted if for example a BSB contracted rider is nominated as an official test or substitute rider for a registered team competing in the 2021 FIM World Superbike Championship. In this instance any test must be confined to utilizing FIM WorldSBK machinery operated by a WorldSBK competing team. Limitations on track time may be proposed by MSVR and in all cases any test could not take place at a BSB Championship race venue. The official BSB tests are listed in the calendar section above. From 15 March 2021 until 14th October 2021, testing is restricted to 16 days at permanent circuits for registered teams/riders utilising motorcycles conforming to the class technical regulations in the UK and Ireland only - which are AMRCO (The Association of Motor Racing Circuit Owners) members during the 2021 season – no testing may take place at a circuit hosting a championship event in the seven days preceding the first official practice day at the same circuit. Official test days in the UK organised by MSVR will be included in the 16 days. The 2021 BSB season ends on the final day of the final event on 17 October 2021. From 18 October 2020 until 31 December 2021 testing is unrestricted. All other classes incl Supersport/GP2 from 01.01.2021 to 14.03.2020 and 18.10.2021 to 31.12.2021 testing is unrestricted. Supersport/GP2 From 15 March 2021 to 14 October 2021 testing is restricted to 12 days at permanent circuits for registered teams/riders utilising motorcycles conforming to the class technical regulations in the UK and Ireland only which are AMRCO (The Association of Motor Racing Circuit Owners) members during the 2020 season – no testing may take place at a circuit hosting a championship event in the seven days preceding the first official practice day. Teams/riders must register all test days with MSVR during this period at least 72 hours before any planned event to gain approval. Other classes Testing is unrestricted for riders and teams entering the remaining championship classes, except no testing may take place at a circuit hosting a championship event in the seven days preceding the first official practice day at that venue. The only exception to the “seven days rule” for 2021 is for British Talent Cup competitors. British Talent Cup competitors are authorised to take part in the race meeting on Saturday 24th April at Oulton Park. 18.2 MSVR takes no responsibility for the standards, organisation and operation of test days outside of any official test days. 18.3 Applications for dispensation/waivers must be made in writing/email to MSVR. 18.4 Infringement of the above will result in the application of a penalty to the team and/or rider(s) concerned. This may be a fine and/or suspension from participation in part or whole of a BSB Championship Event. * - For information, the following circuits are members of AMRCO: Anglesey, Brands Hatch, Cadwell Park, Castle Combe, Croft, Donington Park, Goodwood, Kirkistown, Knockhill, Lydden, Mallory Park, Mondello Park, Oulton Park, Pembrey, Rockingham, Silverstone, Snetterton, Thruxton. The move was made to try to improve safety by reducing cornering speeds, and in a marginal way for cost reasons; the winner was decided by bid.[1] Michelin, one of the two tyre suppliers in 2008, decided not to bid for the supply,[2] effectively declaring Bridgestone the winner, which was confirmed on 18 October 2008.[3] Bridgestone will be the sole tyre supplier from 2009 to 2011. • Orange Times Issue 2
The Orange Times Bruce McLaren Trust June / July 2014, Issue #2 Farewell Sir Jack 1926 - 2014 Along with the motorsport fraternity worldwide I was extremely saddened to th hear of Sir Jack’s recent passing on the 19 May. The McLaren family and Jack have shared a wonderful life-long friendship, starting with watching his early racing days in New Zealand, then Pop McLaren purchasing the Bobtail Cooper from Jack after the NZ summer racing season of 1957. For the following season of 1958, Jack made the McLaren Service Station in Remuera his base and brought the second Cooper with him from the UK for Bruce to drive in the NZIGP which culminated in Bruce being awarded the Celebrating 50 Years of “Driver to Europe”. Jack became his mentor and close friend and by 1959 McLaren Racing Bruce joined him as teammate for the Cooper Racing Team. The rest, as we say, is history but the friendship lived on and the BM Trust Following on from their Tasman Series was delighted to host Jack in New Zealand for a week of motorsport memories success, the fledgling BMMR Team set about in 2003 with Jack requesting that the priority of the trip was to be a visit to their very first sports car race with the Zerex see his “NZ Mum” Ruth McLaren, who, by then, was a sprightly 97 years old. th Special – on April 11 1964 at Oulton Park and I shared a very special hour with the two of them together and the love and this was a DNF/oil pressure.
