PKR reveals voice recording alleging electoral fraud Kini.com 8 Februari 2018

PKR has revealed an audio recording that purportedly implicates a political party politician's attempt to manipulate the police advanced voting process for the parliamentary constituency.

The audio clip, which was distributed to the press today, carries the voice of a male addressing a crowd on election preparations and "bonus" voters.

"Don't tell anyone. We receive bonus voters. About 800 police voters from Tanjung, near Datuk Keramat, near Road, have been secretly transferred to Permatang Pauh," said the person, triggering applause from his audience.

"They are attached to the IPD (district police headquarters), the IPK (state police headquarters). They will vote in Permatang Pauh.

"Sometimes our strategies and technical matters cannot be shared with everyone. You gentlemen are elected division chief, youth chief, woman chief and division secretary.

"I'm telling you this because I want us to feel confident."

The audio clip was revealed by PKR Youth deputy chief Dr Afif Bahardin during a press conference in Petaling Jaya today.

Afif, who is also a Penang state executive councillor, said he was handed a copy of the audio clip, but declined to reveal the source.

As to the identity of the person heard speaking in the audio clip, Afif said: "Talk to the press in Permatang Pauh. They know who the voice belongs to."

At the time of writing, the Permatang Pauh division of the political party concerned has yet to respond to a request for comments.

Meanwhile, Afif urged the Election Commission and the police to respond to the allegation.

"We will also consider taking legal action to prevent such fraud from continuing," he said.

PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar said the MACC should launch a corruption investigation into the allegation as the EC often dismissed concerns of electoral manipulation raised by the opposition.
