We are ready to receive 350 athletes from 30 nations, 150 journalists, photographers and commentators as well as several million TV viewers. The events in Holmenkollen are part of the FIS World Cup in Ski Jumping, Nordic Combined and Cross-Country. An instant success in its first year, the intense and extreme RAW AIR Ski Jumping Tournament once again kicks off in Holmenkollen for its third edition, this time including the ladies for the very first time. There is more information on RAW AIR on page 6. The Nordic Combined events take place on Saturday (provisional jumping round on Friday); the Ski Jumping in the morning and the Cross-Country race in the afternoon. The Cross-Country competitions are the traditional men’s 50 km on Saturday and the women’s 30 km on Sunday, this year in classical style. Both races have the maximum total climb allowed and are the toughest of the FIS World Cup 50 and 30 km races. Den norske Hoppuka Raw Air arrangeres for andre gang. Den starter i Holmenkollen 9. mars, fortsetter i Lillehammer, Trondheim, og avsluttes med superfinale på Vikersund 16. – 18. mars. Et skiflygingsarrangement er viktig for Modum. Arrangementet blir kringkastet i mange land og når ut til millioner av TV-seere verden rundt. Rennet bidrar med økonomisk dugnadskompensasjon for lokale lag og foreninger, en kompensasjon som i løpet av de siste årene har tilført 6 000 000,- til lag og foreninger i Modum og Buskerud. Det forberedes felles sak i Modum kommune/Buskerud fylkeskommune om videre fast støtte til stiftelsen/skiflygingsarrangøren. Egen sak om dette vil bli lagt fram i 2018. Fram til det er endelig avklart om mulig fast støtte (som vil utelukke årlige søknader) må stiftelsen/skiflygningsarrangøren søke kommune og fylket årlig om støtte. Rådmannen innstiller på å gi tilskudd for renn 2018 med 250 000 kr.
