MOTLEY Me & B’s Resq’d Junkery opens its doors in Matador On Saturday, Matador introduced a new downtown business, with the grand opening of Me & B’s Resq’d Junkery on Main Street. Stachia Baxter invites shoppers to see her selection of refurbished furniture and repurposed items. Families can stop in and check it out while they are browsing for local Christmas gifts and visiting Santa. The grand opening will be held from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5. A bookshelf made from an old dresser or a bar made from a credenza may be found inside Baxter’s new retail space, right next door to the variety store. Baxter said she has always had an interest in woodworking, and she began using her father’s workshop to “give new life to old things. I believe in second chances.” Taking pieces apart and reinventing them were ideas she learned from her grandmother. Her 9-year-old son Blaize also helps her repaint and restore things. “I like the creative part of it,” said Baxter, who has been LIZ ADAMS, THE CAPROCK COURIER working on making some rustic snowflakes for Saturday.
