The creaky phone lines that provided the results from the 100 judges have been superseded by state of the art, pan-continental technology that involves all the 125 million viewers watching at home. It’s a very different show indeed. Back in 1957, Lys Assia attempted to defend her Eurovision crown and this year Germany’s Lena will become the third artist taking a crack at the same challenge.

Celá práce slouží jako prvotní průvodce festivalovým svě- tem. Čtenář této práce bude ve stručnosti uveden do tematiky mezinárodních festivalů a festivalové dění mu nebude připadat jako neprostupný kolos, naopak získá základní orien- taci o možnostech, termínech a financích, aby tak mohl zhodnotit vlastní situaci. Diplo- mová práce se věnuje jednak nejpodstatnějším evropským filmovým festivalům, kterým se dostává mezi filmovými profesionály velkého respektu, ale také českým festivalům, které jsou často specificky zaměřeny na nejrůznější témata. V závěru práce uvádím praktické in- formace a tipy, jak je možné začít s přihlašováním na festivaly. Diplomová práce jako ce- lek vychází z oficiálních materiálů dostupných o jednotlivých festivalech a také z osobních zkušeností tvůrců, kteří se jich již zúčastnili.
