Making a difference

Peggy Zilbermann and Shelly Rosen quietly and seamlessly left their mark on hundreds of members of our congregation over the past 10 years during their Friday visits to congregants hospitalized in Baylor Hospital. The simple act of bringing Shabbat wine (actually grape juice), candles, and a challah roll has nourished many souls, most certainly helping them heal and distinctly communicating our message of being a caring congregation. Their visit and healing words will be missed, as Peggy and Shelly have decided to “retire”. A crowd of g2g students learned together at Words are inadequate to describe the impact of your Jewish LearningFest in February. acts of loving kindness. Both of you will be missed. A message for those who received hospital visits from both of these incredible women, please extend a warm Grief is personal and individual thank you. We are looking for congregants who would be willing to fulfill the role for Friday visits to Baylor. Grieving is a personal and highly individual Please get in touch with Alan Harris, hospital visitation experience. How you grieve depends on many factors, coordinator, [email protected]. including your personality and coping style, your life experience, your faith, and the nature of the loss. The grieving process takes time. Healing happens gradually; it can’t be forced or hurried – and there is no “normal” timetable for grieving. Some people start to feel better in weeks or months. For others, the grieving process is measured in years. Whatever your grief experience, it’s important to be patient with yourself and allow the process to naturally unfold. The next grief support series in partnership with Jewish Family Service and Temple starts Tuesday April 9, and continuing the next 5 Tuesdays through May 14th . Temple is very proud to partner with such an impactful agency by bringing grief support to our building. Topics covered include the grief process, Jewish traditions and insights, support, communication and hope for the future. JFS counselor Deborah Leibensberger, ACSW, LCSW will facilitate and Rabbi Knight will assist with the Jewish component on the third session. Enrollment will be limited, so please register by contacting JFS at 972-437- 9950 or call Peggy Papert if you have further questions. There is also an ongoing grief support group held at JFS on the third Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m.
