December 2013 Volume 30, Issue 12

2013 was an exciting year for the SVDA!

Our chapter hosted the USDF L Program and several of our members went through the Part 1 and on to Part II earning their USDF L graduate certificates.

And, our president, Kathy Rowse, was accepted as a faculty member of the USDF Program L Program.

Many members had great recognized and schooling show success and forged partnerships with new equine partners.

The weather was not with us this year but, thanks to an increase in sanctioned- show approvals, we were able to reschedule our championship schooling show.

On behalf of the board, I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas season!

Your Newsletter Editor,

Anna

Pferdechen Tip: Pferdechen thanks Kathy Rowse for this tip that she discovered. He’s taking De- cember off!

"When your veterinarian prescribes cold therapy for your horse, an easy and inexpensive method is to pour Palmol- ive dish detergent into a heavy resealable plastic and put it in the freezer. The detergent does not freeze solid (other brands do), so in a few hours, you’ll have a fully flex- ible cold pack. Contour it to your horse’s leg, holding it in place with a self-adhesive elastic bandage. The detergent is nontoxic, so if a bag leaks or breaks, the liquid can be washed off. When a bag thaws, put it back in the freezer and grab another. It works great for people, too!"
