The FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA PIRELLI 2014 will be staged from 9 to 11 May as the 24th consecutive Formula 1 Grand Prix held at the Barcelona racetrack, an event that has consolidated its position in the calendar of the World Championship of the top class of motor sports. After the Grands Prix in Australia (16 March), Malaysia (30 March), Bahrain (6 April) and China (20 April), Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will welcome the FIA Formula One World Championship™ in Europe, with the first big evolutions of the season. Along the history of the Circuit, thirteen drivers have written their names as winners of the Grand Prix of Spain, namely Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Damon Hill, Michael Schumacher, Jacques Villeneuve, Mika Häkkinen, Kimi Räikkönen, Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa, Jenson Button, Mark Webber, Sebastian Vettel and Pastor Maldonado, ten of them being World Champions. In 2013, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya experienced an exceptional atmosphere with the win of local driver Fernando Alonso, marking the second win of the Spanish driver at this Circuit, in front of a crowd of 94,831 spectators. The 2014 season has become a true challenge for all teams, having to adapt to the new regulations of the championship, such as the V6 engines with 1,600 cubic centimetres, the new aerodynamic designs, changes in fuel consumption and the new energy recovery system ERS, among other novelties. The championship will arrive at the Circuit with the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team drivers leading the provisional standings, Nico Rosberg on top, followed by Lewis Hamilton, and with Fernando Alonso completing the top three, after four Grands Prix. Moreover, the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA PIRELLI 2014 will have a very special moment, as Dani Juncadella, former member of the Young Driver Programme of the Circuit, will be having his debut in Formula 1 during a free practice session on Friday with the Sahara Force India F1 Team. All in all, the 22 single-seaters taking part in the Wold Championship will be thrilling the fans attending the Grand Prix at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. In addition to Formula 1®, the race programme of the weekend includes races of the GP2 Series, the GP3 Series and the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, the latter with the participation of Àlex Riberas, member of the Young Driver Programme of the Circuit. Novelties in 2014 A highlight among the novelties for this year is the inclusion of the Italian tyre brand Pirelli as main sponsor of the event, being the single tyre provider of the Championship until 2016. In this edition of the Grand Prix, fans will have the chance to enjoy everything what Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has prepared for them. On Sunday, the first ones to get to the Circuit will enjoy the movie Rush, that will be shown on the 18 big screens located along the racetrack at 07:00 a.m., to start an intense race Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya Mas “La Moreneta” Apartat de correus, 27 08160 Montmeló Barcelona – Spain Tel. On Sunday as well, and shortly before the Grand Prix, the drivers will be taking part in the drivers parade along the track on classic cars, and just before the formation of the starting grid, there will be a Colla de Castellers (traditional Catalan human towers) making an exhibition on the main straight. And after the winner of the race has crossed the finish line and all cars are back in pit-lane, there will be the so-called Open Track allowing all fans to access the track of the Circuit from the spectator areas. There will also be the traditional pit-lane walkabout on Thursday 8 May, from 10 to 12 a.m. and from 4 to 7 p.m. During the afternoon session, the drivers will come out from their garages to sign autographs for all fans gathered on the pit-lane. The pit-lane walkabout will be with no doubt a nice appetizer for all the activities scheduled for the race weekend at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The experience of living a Grand Prix at the Circuit All fans attending the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA PIRELLI 2014 at Circuit de Barcelona- Catalunya will have the chance to enjoy an unforgettable experience, watching the F1® show live in benchmark facilities with high quality services. Spectators can choose from a competitive ticket offer, going from the general admittance area to 13 different grandstands, three of which can be bought per days (C, E and N), and are located in the most interesting sections of the track. This year there will also be interesting discounts for Juniors (12-18 years in the general admittance area and 6-18 in grandstands) and Seniors (65 years or older). The tickets for the event, the Circuit member card, the Circuit official card and the Hospitality Pass offer different advantages to enjoy the city of Barcelona and its surroundings after the day at the Grand Prix, such as the Camp Nou Experience, La Roca Village Chic Outlet Shopping, the Sagrada Familia Basilica, the Catalan National Art Museum (MNAC) and a tapas tour around Barcelona. The comfort of the spectator areas, the catering offer, the excellent communications to get to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the hotel accommodation capacity in the region and the city of Barcelona – only 30 km away from the Circuit – as a worldwide first class tourist destination, turn the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA PIRELLI 2014 into one of the most attractive Grands Prix in the calendar of the FIA Formula One World Championship™. 13 and 14 May: Formula One Test Days After the staging of the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA PIRELLI 2014 the teams will be back on the track of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on 13 and 14 May for two test days after the Grand Prix.
