I am S VISALAM, a Research Scholar in the Department of Music, Kalai Kaviri College of Fine Arts, Tiruchirappalli from 2013 and my observations about the Institution are :

Overall Analysis Of OBSERVATION ( Limit to five major ones for each Kalai Kaviri College and use telegraphic language) Of Fine Arts 3.1. INSTITUTIONAL a. KalaiKaviri College being an Institution of Fine STRENGTHS Arts based at Trichy, is a centre attracting students interested in Fine Arts especially, Carnatic Music. Students in and around Trichy and even from down south, have an opportunity to learn Carnatic Music.

b. Carnatic Music which was learnt by upper class society people, is now being learnt by students of all strata of society irrespective of caste, creed, religion etc.

c. As the Institution has the hostel facility within the campus, students from remote villages are also able to opt for Carnatic Music.

d. As the Institution offers Music not only at undergraduate, post graduate level but also higher level to complete M.Phil. and Ph.D., the students are given opportunity to become Music professional .

e. Due to this, job opportunities are high and KalaiKaviri absorbs them as teaching staff in their College. 3.2. INSTITUTIONAL The syllabus for each of the courses in Carnatic WEAKNESSES Music may be followed as per the other Universities like Madras and Kerala.

34

35

3.3. INSTITUTIONAL a. Good training is imparted for stage performance OPPORTUNITIES once they are qualified, as the Institution arranges for Arangetram with invited audience and professionals.

b. Students doing post graduation are given opportunities to teach children in the part-time evening classes and this exposure gives them the confidence and calibre to teach Music to others.
