Prvo rešenje omogućava punu izvornost teksta, dokumentarno je i funkcionalno u smislu naučnog korišćenja tj. navođenja i citiranja, dok drugo rešenje zadovoljava estetske zahteve i donosi tehnički uređeno izdanje. Beleška urednika Zbornik Antropologija naučne fantastike predstavlja rezime primetnog antropološkog pristupa popularnoj kulturi i u okviru tog pristupa posebno naučnoj fantastici i u književnoj i filmskoj formi. Zlatko Knežević je takođe autor dva teksta o analitičkom dometu Kaveltijeve formule u proučavanju naučne fantastike i o odnosu naučne fantastike i tehnologije savremenog društva. Poseban pogled na kloniranje i klonove u naučnoj fantastici dala je Dragana Antonijević razmatrajuću međuodnos biotehnologije i etike u savremenom društvu oslikan u naučno fantastičnim filmovima, takođe uz analitičku upotrebu Kaveltijeve formule i mitoloških tema. O upotrebi tradicijskih motiva u domaćoj naučnoj fantastici pisao je Ivan Đorđević i taj tekst predstavlja prvi korak ka proučavanju domaće produkcije ovog žanra. Bibliografski podaci B. Žikić. 2010. Nedeljković (Kragujevac) Recently, at a conference 1, my colleague Dr. Savica (pronounced Savitza) Toma, a professor of German literature here at the University of Kragujevac, Serbia, made a remark which I now find very useful. The polemics was about basic categories into which all literature could be divided, such as realistic and fantastic. He said, essentially, this: If we are to be able to work at all, in literary studies, we must have some basic categories, as tools, and for orientation; and so, even if they are not perfect and absolute, they are needed and useful. In that spirit, I proceed. On this planet, science fiction genre began in the year 1818, with the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. That was the first SF novel in the history of the world. Everything with SF elements, before, was proto-SF. Interestingly, the first SF drama on this planet could have been a Serbian one: A Million Years from Now (in the original, in the Serbian language, Kroz milion godina ), written and published in the magazine “Kolo” in 1889, but largely ignored, even by the Serbs, back then; put on stage in Beograd (Belgrade) only in 1995, which is a 106 years delay; and still, to this day, not translated into English. So, for the world, it still does not exist, it is not – priority goes to Karel Čapek. The first Serbian SF novel was One Extinguished Star (in Serbian: Jedna ugašena zvezda ) (1902) by Lazar Komarčić, but it barely qualifies as SF be- 1 Conference of young scientific researchers, but we, the older professors, also attended; 14 February 2009, in Kragujevac, Serbia.

“Is this Bizarro World?” The Adaptation of Characterisation and Intertextuality in German Audiovisual Translation Nicholas David Peat Thesis submitted for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy Department of Linguistics and English Language Lancaster University February 2017 !1 Declaration I hereby confirm that this thesis is my own work and has not been submitted for the award of a higher degree elsewhere. Nicholas David Peat February 2017 Lancaster University !2 Dedication To my parents and Bernadette. !3 Acknowledgements Discussing the German language, Mark Twain once claimed that “a gifted person ought to learn English (barring spelling and pronouncing) in 30 hours, French in 30 days, and German in 30 years”. After five-and-a-half years of analysing German dialogue, encompassing two supervisors and one diagnostic laparoscopy, I can see his point: analysing German dialogue in a PhD has proven to be a very long marathon, encompassing surprise diversions (the demise of an 18 month-programme in Siegen was a classic of the genre) and shocking twists (deadline coming up? Here’s appendicitis!). But only now, as I inch across that finish line, do I see the myriad of people without whom I would have fallen many times over. To begin, I would like to thank so many people within Lancaster University. First thanks go to Marjorie Wood from LAEL, for always being completely sensible and sympathetic, where and when I need her (and having exemplary taste in sweets). Ann Thomas of DELC, who has known me for a decade, has never been anything other than amazing every time I’ve seen her; the thing I have always done when reaching Lancaster is head straight for Ann’s office for her unique blend of common sense and kindness.
