Browne, de la subfamilia Asteroideae, tribu Eupatorieae, está represen- tado por 40 especies que se extienden desde las Antillas, América Central hasta Argentina. En Venezuela están presentes Critonia eggersii, C. heteroneura, C. morifolia y C. naigua- tensis. Como parte del proyecto “Contribución al estudio de las Asteraceae”, en el presente trabajo se describen y diferencian entre sí, las cuatro especies hasta hoy reportadas para Ve- nezuela, considerándose también el estatus actual de su nomenclatura. Asimismo, se pre- senta una clave para las especies de Critonia en el país y se acompaña cada especie con una ilustración detallada y aspectos fitogeofráficos de las mismas. Palabras clave: Asteraceae, Critonia, Venezuela ABSTRACT Critonia P. Trujillo, PERÚ. RESUMEN Se da a conocer un catálogo de 455 especies y 163 géneros de la familia Asteraceae existentes en la región La Libertad, Perú. Se incluyen a 148 taxones endémicos y 24 especies cultivadas. El estudio estuvo basado en la revisión de material depositado en los herbarios: F, HUT y MO, salvo indicación contraria. Las colecciones revisadas son aquellas efectuadas en las diversas expediciones botánicas por personal del herbario HUT a través de su historia (1941-2016). Asimismo, en la determinación taxonómica de especialistas, y en la contrastación con las especies documentadas en estudios oficiales para esta región. El material examinado para cada especie incluye la distribución geográfica según las provincias y altitudes, el nombre vulgar si existiera, el ejemplar tipo solamente del material descrito para la región La Libertad, signado por el nombre y número del colector principal, seguido del acrónimo del herbario donde se encuentra depositado; así como, el estado actual de conservación del taxón sólo en el caso de los endemismos. La información presentada servirá para continuar con estudios taxonómicos, ecológicos y ambientales de estos taxa. -

Traditional herbal mixtures in Eastern Cuba are investigated through interviews with 130 knowledgeable people and traditional healers of the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo. One hundred seventy plant species and other products are used in 199 formulas, galones being the more complex. Cocos nucifera L. (Arecaceae), Bidens pilosa L. (Asteraceae), Cissus sicyoides L. (Vitaceae), Erythroxylum havanense Jacq. (Erythroxylaceae) and Stachytarpheta jamaicensis (L.) Vahl. (Verbenaceae)are the species most frequently cited. The ecological distribution of the taxa and cultural and anthropological aspects of mixtures are highlighted; particularly American and African influences that have shaped local knowledge about plant combinations are discussed. © 2003 Elsevier Ireland Ltd. Xalapa. Veracruz, México 1Corresponding author: [email protected] Abstract: Mexico is a megadiverse country and Veracruz is one of the states with the highest foristic diversity. The reserve of La Mancha in central coastal Veracruz comprises several vegetation types. In this site we conducted for a year, monthly surveys of fowering or fruiting plants in six vegetation types, considering the frequency of occurrence of different species. We found a total of 147 species (131 genera and 63 families). The families most represented were Asteraceae, Fabaceae and Verbenaceae. In addi- tion, we found nine species that had not been reported in previous foristic studies. The highest taxonomic richness was observed in the tropical deciduous food forest with wetland (59 species), while the highest diversity was found in tropical deciduous forest (SDI = 0.9562). We also found that the most similar vegetation types based on the composition and frequency of species were, coastal dune scrub, tropical deciduous forest and pioneer dune vegetation. The dominant plant biological form in La Mancha were herbs (40.41 %) followed by shrubs (23.97 %), vines-lianas (18.49 %) and trees (17.12 %). This study is the frst to consider the frequency-occurrence of fowering and fruiting plants in La Mancha, covering six vegetation types through one year. The more relevant results of this study show the diversity of plants in different environments using the frequency of each species based on reproductive events. -

On the evidence provided, the infrafamilial classification proposed by Wagenitz is most strongly supported, to which that proposed by Carlquist is very similar, except for his placing of the Eupatorieae in the Cichorioideae instead of the Asteroideae .
